Its funny you say that I would take a long parisian loaf, cut the whole thing up and brie all over everything and just eat the whole thing.. Or a whole block of cheddar and some crackers.. That to me was my "binging".Originally posted by SqueakerI'm with Morrisey 100% all the way with the cheese/meat thing - that's exactly what I used to do. But bread was the biggest nightmare, I don't know why because I hate white bread. But give me a french stick, toast, crispy roll, then I was up and running. I really feel for anyone who has the sugar/sweet muchies though. With me that was a sort of hormonal thing, I remember once at TOM hunting through the house for any boiled sweets, anything sweet , like a crazed animal. I've had a hysterectomy since then so those days are gone thank God.
Saying that, I've been so "not" hungry after starting the Atkins that I was out the other day when a friend of mine gave me a polo mint. I took it totally without thinking then the next minute passers by are subjected to a crazed woman leaping up and down and spitting in the gutter. Must have been a charming sight.
I dont think I have ever craved sweets, today they brought in some donuts to my work I did not even care but then again I would not have eaten them even when not dieting.
What would drive me absolutely batty was on previous attempts to lose weight over the last couple months, going to a function and they have a cheese platter and my daily allotment of it was a 1" by 1" cube or like a small cup of cottage cheese on toast or something.. That to me was horrible and I would feel the same way as the above posters do when they see sweets or breakfast bagels etc.. I would feel really pissed.
The thing I cant get over is how now even though the foods I absolutely love I can eat as much as I want, I find I can not sit down and eat as much of them as I could before.. not even 1/3rd and its only been a few days. I find that the soda and the bread/crackers was what was making me have the ability to overeat it was like the fuel needed to make it all happen cause I really cant now even if I want to.

NOPE! I just look at all the junk they are eating, and think about what it would do to my body :yikes. Normally it's opposite, when others see the way I eat, it makes them eat less junk food. :confused

One of the things thats great about this woe is that after a time, you no longer even CRAVE the carbage. When I go out to eat somewhere I'm always amazed by how many people there are who are just eating so much junk! Especially at buffets cuz they dont just eat crap, they have all you can eat crap.
I'll take my string cheese over a donut any day of the week!
Plus my tastebuds have changed so that if there is something with too much sugar and I happen to bite into it - I get an instant BLECH! reactionF 24 5'10 SW - 217 GW 170 restarted atkins 1/14/08 - This time I'm sticking with it!

I've amazed myself with my lack of desire for sugar and other off-limit items. I was such a junkie before, but now I really do think of sugar as poison to my body. I hate to see other people eat like they do because I know what it's doing to them. I want to live to be a ripe old age, in GOOD HEALTH. It would be no fun to be old, frail, and sick.

I was given a glas of low-cal sugar-free lemonade last night and I nearly threw up, it was sooo SWEET, Yuck! I can't believe I used to drink 2 litres of that stuff every day - give me fizzy bottled water any day of the week!

I use to be tempted when my husband would eat french fries, and drink Pepsi. But I've gotten stronger now, and nothing tastes as good as being slim and healthy! :nodStart Date: 3/11/2010

Fresh Picked Strawberries
I'm on my 13th day of induction. My husband brought home fresh picked strawberries that looked delicious. Normally I would have immediately fixed a "mess of 'em" and had some strawberry shortcakes. But, low and behold, I found myself in control and told him it was okay, I could handle them being on the counter. Now :help when I tried to top the strawberries for him with the juice rolling down my fingers and the smell rising up to my nose - enough is enough. He had to finish that - but I did stay in control and did not have a one. I'm sure losing 4 lbs. last night helped me stay in control. :yikes

I can control myself now, but it's not because I don't want it. I still go to the grocery store and walk through the bakery just to get a whiff of all the baked goods. I will never lose my taste for sweets or french fries; I just avoid them.
I know this will sound bad, but I only feel a true longing if the person downing the sweets is really thin. Then I want some because I think "ITS NOT FAIR!!! I WANT TO EAT JUNK AND BE THIN TOO!! "
Let's face it, there are people who can eat like that and never gain a pound. But if the people stuffing their faces are fat, I can easily walk away because I am reminded of what I don't want to look like.

For me it is like I made a total switch, I chose for health and thin instead of junk and fat.
I never was a sweettooth, so that is such a problem (I also used to have the munchies on sandwiches or crackers with all kinds of cheeses and such)
I am a chef in a musiccenter, so I cook meals that include french frites and rice or other stuff not allowed on atkins, but I don't feel deprived at all, I always make sure that if I want to stick something in my mouth, i got something Atkinsfriendly at hand.
Today we had a festival at hand, so.........I made 400 rolls, 20 k french frites, 4 k rice and some meat-items that contained sweet soysauce and gingersirop, so not Atkinsfriendly........I didn't even twitch !!!
I made the choice and to me there's nothing more to it.
I am lucky to feel this way I am sure, I really feel for people that couldn't/can't make this switch !!!41 year old female, lenght 5'5'' and a half
