  • Results to slow? Advice?

My wife and I both started doing the Atkins diet 3.5 weeks ago, staying on induction the entire time so far.
I'm doing great, would like to lose 40-50lb and have lost 22 so far.
My wife who wants to lose around 25lb has lost only 5lb so far.

We are both taking multivitamins daily and being extremely careful about keeping our daily carb intake well under 20g/day.

Testing strips confirm that we are both solidly in ketosis.

We have read that some people, especially women, may have a harder time losign weight than others.
Is this typical, and if so, any suggestions for getting better results for her?
It's getting to the point where she is getting somewhat discouraged with the whole proccess...

    Thanks in advance,
    Keith

Men do lose faster than women. You guys dont have to deal with estrogen hormones affecting the weight loss - especially dont have to deal with TOM with throws everything out of whack.

Also a factor is that you have more to lose than your wife does. The less you have to lose, the slower you'll lose it.

Just tell her to stick with it! There are other benefits to Atkins other than the weight loss, like extra energy for example. Also even if you may not be losing pounds, your probably still losing inches which makes a difference.

Please try to keep in mind that you didn't gain the weight overnight, its not going to come off overnight either

    Hope this helps

Thanks, that's pretty much in line with what I was thinking and telling her.
I need to lose about twice as much as her, but am losing it at a rate 4x as fast as she is.

Is it likely her rate of loss will continue at this rate or might it pick up at some point?

One testimonial in the book mentioned the subject losing almost no weight in the first 3-4 weeks and the pace then rapidly picking up.

Mainly I'm hoping that either we're not missing something obvious which is holding her back relative to me, or, that maybe she can expect the pace to pick up at some point. Either would be encouraging

If your wife lost 5lbs out of 25, if you take a look at the percents, you will notice that its a really good loss. Most people lose 5-10% on induction.

Remember your exercise, and if you just started a program, give a good week for your body to let go of everything.

          also, remember your water!
