If the jello is made with aspartame, then it's not acceptable. If it's made with Splenda, then you can count it towards your 3 servings of artificial sweeteners a day.

What kind of cool whip is it? The only kind you should be eating (if at all) is homemade, with heavy whipping cream and maybe a touch of splenda. This will also count towards your artificial sweetener allotment, as well as toward your allotment of 3 tbsp. of cream.

You can have up to three servings of sweetener in one day - including all foods and drinks BUT many people find that by refraining from eating sweet foods during induction they manage to destroy their sweet tooth!!

So if you can manage NOT to eat desserts during induction you will be doing yourself a favour :yes Dr Atkins said that desserts should be an occasional treat not a daily food.

I find I do not want much in the way of sweetened foods now whereas my DH who never gave up sweetener often buys and eats the bars and other artificially sweetened snacks and sweets - probably about 10 in the week.

He is at goal and still eats lowcarb (I only cook Atkins friendly food) apart from the frankenfood bars and sweets and I have warned him to watch his weight and drop them if he gains. Hopefully as long as he doesnt start eating white flour and real sugar products he will stay at goal but who knows?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

          Good morning!

I agree with elizellen about fighting the sweet tooth. :wave

Dr Atkins wants us to discover the sweetness in things like meat and cheeses, and not so much in artificially-sweetened foods which trick the brain into thinking it's getting sweet foods.

As you progress up the rungs of OWL, you will be able to, at some point, try nuts and berries again, both of which can be said to be sweet.

But 6 pounds in 6 days! Life is pretty sweet for you right now!

Your weight loss so far has been amazing!

Yep you'll be surprized how sweet natural foods will taste after cutting artificially sweetened foods. The first time I added back strawberries, I thought I died and went to heaven! Even bell peppers taste really sweet to me now.

Elizellen-- OMG! I love chilled cherry tomatoes! They're like little apples of love.

earlychildhoodeducator-- you're so right! Those green bell peppers even taste sweet... and purple onions, too!
