Yeah its called water weight. Body fluctuations can be between 5-15lbs. STOP WEIGHING EVERY DAY!

5lbs equals 17500 calories, I doubt you ate that much in one day.

    So quit it.

      no need for profanity

Post your menu in the menu forum and let the monitors take a look at it. Weight will fluctuate on Atkins, and in life - thats just normal. No big deal.

You can help yourself. If not you, who? Do you prefer to be empowered, or wallow in victimhood?

Tough love alert!! Take this in the manner it's offered...it comes from the heart.

I weigh myself everyday I know your not supposed to but I can't help it
To be blunt, yes, you can help it. You can get your husband/kid/neighbour to hide your scale, or the battery from your scale and only give it to you once a week or every two weeks. This is not out of your control..you have all the power in the world to change this situation.

It's going to take longer than a week or two to lose the weight you want to lose...think in terms of this time next year...do you want 365 mornings of stress and tension, hoping that the number makes your day and praying the fluctuation doesn't bring you crashing down?

You've proved to yourself that you have a lot of trouble dealing with the daily ups and downs that weight does before it comes off...why continue doing this to yourself?

        Give this a read:

Take care of the scale situation, rely on your tape measure and the fit of your clothes. Many is the time the scale hasn't moved, but I've fit into something smaller.

I just realized that you posted about gaining weight, and about how you are substituting shakes for meals...sometimes twice a day.

Perhaps this is telling you something.

Adding to what the others have said....

Check the foods you are eating. Are you eating high salt foods like the processed meats (pepperoni, salami, cold cuts, bacon, etc.) or salty cheeses like parmesan or feta? If so, start limiting your intake of these items because some folks are salt sensitive and will retain water if they eat too much salt (and aren't drinking enough water to flush the excess out).

While it's tempting to snack on pepperoni and salami or to have 5 slices of bacon every morning, it might not be in your best interest from a health point of view.

Relax!!! :yes Don't fall into the dependence of the scale. I made that mistake and gained quite a bit back from just "giving up" Little did I realize, the scale didn't move but my waist was significantly smaller - and I am just now realizing this as I look at pictures.

Seriously, put the scale away. Atkins is not about weighing yourself excessively counting each pound, it's about training yourself to live a healthier life.

Make your goals for each week. Do not touch the scale until then. Keep eating this WOL, keep exercising, and keep the end of the week your goal. If each week is your goal, before you know it 6 months will pass and you will be done 25-50 pounds, maybe more...but most of all you will be down a ton of inches.

                  Digital Scale

Do you use a Digital Scale? And set it up level on a large tile if you have too, in the same place everytime.
I weigh every day, at the same time, and mine is acurate.
However if your a woman, I think the water fluctuation is more intense than in males.
I weigh every morning when I get up, right after using the bathroom.
(wearing only underwear) If I stick strickly to 20 carbs or less, I will loose 1lb everyday.

As far as weighing everyday, go ahead if you want. To each there own. I weigh everyday and I like the constant feedback of knowing what I did right or wrong the day before. And just yesterday I read an article in Men's Health magazine touting weighing everyday for that very reason. The article continued, why wait a week to find out that something you are doing is causing weight gain when you could deal with it immediately.

But all of that said, it's water. You absolutely did not gain 5 pounds of fat in one day. Check your sodium/water intake for the prior two days (not just the day before).

Yes I'm eating a smore in the picture, how do you think I got so fat?

Because, How can do tell the difference between regular body fluctuations and if something had an affect on you?
