  • Slim Jims?

Just wanted to know if we can have these during induction?

    Nutritional info:

    Serving size: 3 pieces
    Calories: 150
    Fat: 13g
    Carbs: 2g
    Protein: 6g

Thanks in advance for your help!

Slim Jims are an alright alternative, but I would stay away from them for the most part. Reason being is that it contains Dextrose , which is sugar, which is why there are two carbs in them. And it also contains Maltodextrin.

another thing to look at with those things are sodium! they are very high.

there are other beef sticks available without any added chemicals and not so high of salt.

Malikah, have you considered purchasing a dehydrator (they're pretty inexpensive at Walmart & Target) to make your own beef and turkey jerky?

I have a dehydrator, but all of my recipes call for some pretty sugary/salty marinades. How do you make yours?

I buy the package of pepperoni slices for use on pizza and these are carb free and maybe not the best thing but one serving is 14 slices and I use that for my snack and I like the real spicy taste to them!

I had slim-jims every now and then it didn't effect my loss. I dehydrated my own jerky and it didn't taste good without the sugar - even with splenda as a substitute it judt didn't taste good!

            How about pepperoni sticks?

Yes it is in the meat category but processed so need to read the label and see which one is the best...I use the pepperoni slices for only a snack and make sure I use only one serving...

I rarely dehydrate meat, but when I do, it's au naturel! No additives.

ICK...I tried these and they tasted like I was eating lard. Sorry, but not a fan, and they are really salty which may make you retain water….

I eat them on a rare occasion for a change of snack. But the salt content is too high for me. Also there are ingredients not legal for induction, but after induction they should be fine, if eaten sparingly.
