Day one of induction (again) and I already feel like I am going to quit...no I don't want to eat I just can't stand this headache. It was ultimately what got me last time as well. Nothing gets rid of it and it is so bad. I know it is temporary but even another minute seems like eternity.

just remember dr atkins says the worse your aches and pains during induction, the more addicted you were to carbs and sugar...also the more of a dramatic change you might see during induction! I am actually excited that I am having headaches and light headedness, because I know I'm just gonna shed those pounds off!~*~Clare~*~

I have started re-reading the book and I am going to read the part about the worse the induction the more the addiction over and over so I don't talk myself into temp. relief. ThanksShay

yes. That is THE single most motivating factor for me! AND it helps me to not cheat..."just one bite" could knock me back into my carb addiction! Maybe I will just have one bite, but that one bite basically screws up the ketosis process my body is supposed to be shifting into. Last night I made hamburger helper for my bf...I swear I picked the fork up twice when he was done (DAMN him for leaving leftovers and not cleaning his dishes!) but I put it down both times thinking about how I want to stick with this, and if i dont cheat the lbs will FLY off! (ok even if I don't lose that much that fast, I still gotta pretend I am going to to keep motivated!) SELF talk is GREAT!Originally posted by ShayI have started re-reading the book and I am going to read the part about the worse the induction the more the addiction over and over so I don't talk myself into temp. relief. Shay sweetie,
Watch out, this may hurt!! The more you start and stop the worse your body is going to feel. You are really confusing a system that is already in deficit due to carb overload/addition. You have got to set you mind to the fact that you are doing this PERIOD. Thur tummy aches, thur headaches, thru being wiped out, thru constipation, thru TOM, thru insensitive hubbies/ or relatives. YOU CAN DO THIS, but you must COMMIT!!!! Have your doctor's number handy and if you feel like you are "ill" call your doc and make an appointment. If you are not dying, don't quit!!! Every day presents you with excuses, don't take them. Brush them off and walk right on by. (literaly, walk, dance, WWF with your kids on the floor :yikes moving makes you feel better). I know you can do this. Keep your eye on the prize and make this time STICK!!! Go Shay Go Shay Go Shay. Ok I hope that didn't hurt too much. :hug

Shay, I am right there with ya! I was thinking of starting my exercising today (day 2) because yesterday I felt fine..but I'm beginning to feel really spaced out...not letting it get me down but don't know if i can handle going for a walk in 95+ degree heat (i live in houston!) It's a weird feeling, not really uncomfortable, but just week, and my vision is...well i dont know how else to describe it, but I feel a little stoned :-p~*~Clare~*~

Shay, here's some unorthodox advice (some may disagree with me). If you need to, eat some extra veggies or some extra cheese. You might be going over your limits, but I think this is a better solution than having a cracker to get rid of a headache. And I wouldn't worry about exercise just yet. I know it's non-negotiable and all, but if it's going to push you over the edge and make you quit, then don't think about it until you're over your induction flu.
Good Luck!

Thanks everyone, I have almost made it pure through day 1.
texmom; didn't hurt anymore than my head does :sadblinky but I am not giving in this time.
Funny how fast time goes by when I am eating the time away, this has been one LONG day.
Don't plan to exercise until this is past, that was a good suggestion...the thought makes me want to eat a super size McDonalds meal :joyShay

hey shay do you have some kind of accountability buddy? I met a girl from 3fatchicks.com and she is the same age/weight as me and we have the same ideal weight goal, we email each other what we ate each day at night, and talk about how things are going with our diet (ok i just started but her and I have been prepping for this for a week!) It has really helped me to have someone keep me accountable...instead of having a late night snack last night I thought "ohh dang, I still have to email Laura what I ate! and I want to be under 20g of carbs so I'm not gonna have this extra snack!" This board is nice, but if you aren't here one day, I doubt people will go out lookin for ya :-p you should get a buddy!~*~Clare~*~

I'm on the same boat! I'm on day 2, I felt so much better yesterday, today I want to eat that Snickers in the cupboard that's been mocking me all day.
I was excited to be doing Atkins again & looking forward to shedding a few pounds but I've already had 22g of carbs today so I'm thinking, "What the heck, you've already blown it!" I'm chugging water & I'm about to clean the house top to bottom for a showing tomorrow (it's been on the market for about a week!). Hopefully, that will cure my cravings! If not, I should be ready for bed by the time I'm done, & as far as I know, I don't eat in my sleep!
Keep it up, I've heard it gets better! :yes
