  • screw jello!

dangit...so im doing great today, had a nice sized breakfast around 10...now its 2, and i wasn't that hungry, but i decided to eat anyway just to kind of keep my metabolism going i guess (I am notorious for eating only 2 times a day, esp when i eat a huge breakfast) so i got some jello out of the fridge...i ate a little less than a cup, with 2tbsp of whipped cream topping...ate it about 15 min ago, and i feeel hunger starting to creep up on me...its like the jello made me feel hungry or something...

well its only day 2...im not a hardcore sugar addict, but i thought a sweet sugar-free treat every few days would be nice for my tastebuds...i have sugar free jello, but im thinking maybe it is tricking my body into thinking its real sugar or something lol. I'm not craving anything sweet at the moment, just getting hungry in general.

Was this regular jello or was this sugar-free jello? You might want to read the sticky about called "Addicted to sweets: Cephalic Phase Insulin Response".

Also Dr. Atkins said to avoid aspartame because it caused stalls or slow downs in people---about 25% of his dieters.

Finally, the "whipped cream topping". Was that real cream that you whipped yourself or was that something out of a tub or can? There's only 1 canned whipped cream that is sweetened with Splenda, but their carb labelling is a bit off---it contains 2 undocumented carbs per 2 tablespoon servings. And a tablespoon serving is measured with a standard cooking measuring spoon, not by estimating it.

Take this as a learning experience. You know what your triggers are. So the next time you have a snack, make it a high fat snack like an ounce of cheese or a devilled egg. The fat will fill you up and prevent any blood sugar spikes.

the whipped cream was reddi whip..the kind in the can...when i bought it i looked at it to make sure and there is less than 1g carbs per tbsp ...or am i not supposed to eat it? i get confused by labels...they say they have only 1 or 2 carbs but there are some foods were not supposed to eat regardless...

Even if a product says it's low carb, it may contain things that are not Induction legal...so read the ingredients to make sure you can have it.

Stick to the perimeters of the store. The dairy, meat and produce sections. Thats really all you need anyway except parm cheese and paper goods.

Read the labels anyway. Watch for things that end in -ose.

                      jello stalls me

diet Jello stalls me everytime, even if its just one little serving.
Don't know why, but it does. (I can drink Diet Rite without a stall)
It could be the aspartame, or it could be that my body treats gelatin as a carb, don't know, but I do know the results of it.

yeah i checked and there is aspartame in the jello...im not 100% opposed to the artificial sweeteners, but I don't think I want to eat any of them during induction, maybe not even in OWL, just the maintenance phase...i mean come on i can't live FOREVER without anything sweet...I would by lying if i said that I will never eat anythign sweet again

If you can manage not to feed your sugar demon by not using much in the way of any artificial sweeteners you might amaze yourself when you get to the fruits rung at finding that you find berries are enough to satisfy your sweet craving.
I find that a few blueberries with a spoonful of greek yogurt taste really sweet to me now!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
