  • Question about UK food labels

    hello
I read in a thread earlier that lots of people are enjoying sausages in their induction. I went around ASDA yesterday reading the packs of their (extra special) range, and found that they'd say on the label

    CARBOHYDRATES: 8g
    OF WHICH SUGARS: 0.6g

does that mean that 0.6g is what counts in atkins, and the rest is fibres? or something else. I didn't buy them cos I don't want to ruin things.

Perhaps someone from Britain can advise me on what sausages to buy and how much to eat of them

    Thanks

    Hi :wave
As I mentioned in another of your posts, I get ours from Lidl - but they are not 'british' sausages which in my experience always have fillers making them too high in carbs for Atkins. :sadblinky
I buy 'german' sausages, to be specific 'Bratwurst' which have 0.3 carbs for 1 large sausage or for 4 small ones.
Another of the UK mods - Richt - has posted about other ones he buys. Maybe you could send him a PM or do a search for 'sausages' posts by him
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

err, no. Net cards 8g and 0.6g of those 8g are sugars.

Most UK sausages have have a Cereal filler to reduce the cost - this increases the carb count.

Look for the premium range supermarket sausages - I mean the expensive ones!

Both Waitrose and Sainsbury do a very low carb sausage. I eat Wairose sausage 4 or 5 times a week. Unfortunately the remains of the pack in the fridge has lost the band with the data on. I don't know about ASDA or Tesco. Remember ASDA sell a higher propotion of cheaper produce, so their "expensive" sausage might still not be good enough to escape the cereal filler.

Or buy the Bratwurst from Lidl.
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
      he said, 'Don't count calories.'

        Oh thanks!
sorry haven't read your reply post in another thread, too lazy to do a search eh?

and yeah asda is too cheap. I'll go to marks and sparks and check their stuff, it's usually good

so in a nutshell i've gotta find sausages with low carbs all together, not cheapo asda ones

        thanks!
