Until you get your book, I know we have sticky posts with acceptable foods on here, as well as the Atkins site itself does. Link: Acceptable Foods
I think it's a very good possibility your sweetened water is causing cravings. I have a flavored Aquafina once in a while and I know it can for me.
edited to add: Interesting, they're backing off on sweetners now aren;t they?Man, sugar alcohols are pure evil. They truly are selling out :/Artificial Sweeteners
You must determine which artificial sweeteners agree with you, but the following are allowed: sucralose (marketed as Splendaâ„¢), saccharin, cyclamate and acesulfame-K. Natural sweeteners ending in the suffix "-ose," such as maltose, etc., should be avoided. However, most sugar alcohols have a minimal effect on blood sugar and are acceptable.Female/45/5'5

It's extremely important that you get the book (you can get a copy super cheap on ebay) and understand the 'why' behind the plan.
The book you're after is Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, version 2002 (we call it DANDR for short).
It was the BEST investment I have ever made in my life, and I am glad I bought it, rather than rely on what my friends told me, and what I picked up on the net.
Atkins.com has changed since the good Dr. passed away and many of their food suggestions for Induction actually contradict what DANDR tells us to eat. It's best to go to the source, and eat cleanly and simply.
Re:aspartame...on page 128 of DANDR, we are told to avoid it, and there's a list of sweeteners we can have....and we are only allowed 3 sweeteners a day.
And only plain regular unflavoured water counts as water...you need 64 ounces, plus an additional 8 for each 25 pounds of weight you want to lose.
Induction is a time to begin to get rid of that sugar monster that most of us have clinging to us, so as mentioned, it's best to eat something like a protein/fat combo to fight it.
And if you want to scream...by all means scream!!! lol There were many a tense moment in our apartment when I was dealing with my sugar addiction...but it was all worth it.
I have the occasional sweet treat now, but it consists of homemade things, and lately (because I'm up on the OWL ladder) it's been fresh strawberries and cream or yogurt.
It gets better. :yes

:hug i can sympathise with you on that craving.
I am on week 4 of induction and out of nowhere the other night i had such a craving for something sweet i sat and cried before huffily going to bed early.
looking at the other advice given i can see it may be due to some diet lemonade that i had earlier.
Its 30 odd years of bad habit that we need to break and its going to be hard to re-train our bodies that we dont need these foods.
stick in there- we can do it

You really need to kill your sweet tooth.
That's part of Induction.
Eating artificially sweetened foods will just delay that.
After a week or 2 without sweetened foods everything you eat will taste better and sweeter and sweetened foods will taste downright nauseating.
It will really help you get a better taste for lo-carb foods and enjoy them more if you pass on the sweetener.

"only plain regular unflavoured water counts as water"
I was told that as long as the first ingredient is water, you can count it as water intake...splenda doesn't agree with me, so i choose not to use it, it makes my stomach very upset, why i don't know, i tried a packet of it in my decaff coffee and i had terrible stomach cramps....the only reason Adkins wants us to stay away from aspartame is because of some chemical in it can slow weight loss, but that's not for everyone, I think everyone responds differently to the sweetner....i have been drinking the carbonated water and counting it as my water, i have lost more weight being on the Adkins diet since Friday (3lbs) that i have working out

Whoever told you that missed Rule of Induction #9 on page 230 of DANDR which statesOriginally posted by sexymomof3"only plain regular unflavoured water counts as water"
I was told that as long as the first ingredient is water, you can count it as water intake...
"You must drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of pure water daily. This can be filtered, mineral or spring water (not seltzer). You may also have unlimited amounts of herbal tea (without sugar), but these do not count toward your total of eight glasses."
This is why we stress that people need to get and read the book instead of following someone else's idea of what Atkins is all about.
