  • I'm starting induction today....

    Hello Everyone

I am a new member of ADBB but I'm not new to Atkins. I've been on Atkins about 3 or 4 times and I've lost weight each time, but after I lose the weight I convince myself that I can go back to eating whatever I want in what I call "moderation" (which clearly isn't). I think I've finally realized that this is really a WOL instead of a quick fix. So I'm ready to commit myself again (for good this time) to a new, healthier me. I know this is not going to be easy so I'm looking for a little support and accountability from ADBB. So if you guys have any advice or tips to share please do. I'm trying to use all of my resources this time because I really do want to stick with this.

Welcome! I think the mental aspect of this WOL is most of the game. If you want to lose quick pounds and then be able to eat everything in sight it won't work. Really, no diet works like that. However, if you dedicate yourself it will! Keep reminding yourself about why you are doing this. in DANDR there is a section on the psychology of weight loss that talks about writing down your reasons and using them as a daily reminder. When you are set in your mind this is so much easier. For example, yesterday I was grocery shopping and passed an open freezer with mocha ice cream. As I passed the smell of the mocha ice cream hit my nose. Before, I would have automatically put the ice cream in my cart and gorged as soon as I got home. This time I thought "so not worth it, I'll feel bad physically AND mentally." And the smell wasn't even that appetizing anymore.

You might also want to check out the "second time around club". If you cheat you need to post a pic wearing your pjs!

You've come to the right place for support. You can do this!! :yes

You're already making great progress because you've mastered the concept that this HAS TO BE A PERMANENT LIFESTYLE CHANGE. You're miles ahead of alot of people. :icondance

I think you'll find that once you conquer the sugar demon for good, this will be ALOT EASIER than you think. Initially, breaking any addiction is difficult, but with Atkins, the foods you eat are so satisfying and give you so much energy, WHAT'S TO MISS?

Check in with us often and let us know how you're doing! We're here to inspire, encourage, and give you a swift kick if needed!

      YOU CAN DO IT!

Your mind is set with the correct way of thinking. This is for life and not a quick weightloss and then go back to the old distructive way. We have all done this and we all know it doesn't work.

Welcome to ADBB!!! This is the best site for support, and motivation. Welcome aboard!!!

        Happy Low carbing!
