  • why crackers

I am on day 9 now of induction and yesterday and the day before I have wanted crackers SO bad. I haven't eaten any, when it gets bad I grab a legal snack and move on but I am wondering why I am having these STRONG cravings for crackers.

Maybe if someone has time and wouldn't mind you can take a look at what I have been eating, I don't think there is anything there that would trigger this. Thanks!

Don't worry about the crackers. Your body wants more carbs right now. Beleive me, I was a potatoes/rice/pasta junkie before I began Atkins. Candies, cakes, cookies, bread, etc. never really did anything for me, but during my Induction, my stomach would start howling whenever I smelled fresh bread or cookies.

If you have these cravings, eat a high fat snack and/or drink water. Kill that carb tooth.

I used to want crackers and chips very badly, but the cravings will pass. Just don't give in and have faith that very soon you'll be out of the woods. Your tastes will change drastically. I quickly got used to only juicy foods with lots of moisture that a crackers just sounds about as yummy as putting sand in my mouth. Hang in there! :hug

Cheese crackers are good - put little piles of grated cheese or cubes in the microwave or oven and cook till crispy.
A couple of ounces make quite a lot of crackers.
You can add spices or chives to get some variety too.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Don't forget about pork rinds! they help me cure my "crunchy" tooth.

I tried some of those pork rines. They did not taste very good. I'm in Canada so maybe they're not the same. They were very dry...I almost choked on them and they tasted nasty. Do you have different flaroured ones in the US?

So the craving get less. I thought I was going to be the one person that doesn't have this happen because they went away and now they are back. I tried to find one of those celeriacs to make the "potato" chips but the store I went to didn't have them. I did get a turnip...and thought I would try "hashbrowns" in the morning. Trying to get the variety a bit better here!
