I'm on my third day of induction and I was so busy today that I forgot to bring my lunch to work! Now I'm here halfway through my shift and I want food! The problem is that I have no relief to cover me while I run to get a salad or something and the vending machine (aka the wheel of death) is tempting me. I know it's not worth it so I'm just going to try and stick it out. I won't make this mistake again. Sorry for whining guys!

Re: I need some support guys.........
It may be ancient, but perhaps this might help somebody today, right?!
This is something that can happen to any one of us so it's good to know what a person's options could be.
If a co-worker wasn't able to pick me up something I would check the vending machine for almonds because that's one of the better nuts to choose. If only peanuts were available I'd make sure I didn't gobble them down too quickly, and I'd pace myself eating them. If there were any left over, I'd give them away. Funny how peanuts are like popcorn and you can eat a lot without realizing it...but almonds aren't really that way.
Good topic though..and worth unearthing!

Fozzy,
I'm glad you posted on this, or I probably wouldn't have seen it. I'm new here. It put it in my head that I'd better go out right now so that I'll be set for work this week!
Thanks!Mandi

Re: I need some support guys.........
Well all this is probably true, but the choice is some of the normal garbage in the "wheel of death" in the break rooms, the peanuts would win over not eating at all for 8 hours. But this is of course just my opinion..Starting weight: 310 Current weight: 292 Goal weight: 220

Re: I need some support guys.........
I'd argue that the peanuts are worse than not eating for 8 hours, because of their higher glycemoc index. They are more likely to make a person hungrier than had they eaten nothing. They go, fwooop! Right to the blood stream!
I'd push, instead, as a last resort, for macadamia nuts (also not allowed on induction but the best bang for your low carb buck).
I'd also say that keeping food in the fridge at work for those days food is forgotten is a must!
On the bag (to keep people from eating it) write, "For my dog...please don't eat" (thanks to the poster for that suggestion)
It works everytime!

Re: I need some support guys.........
Oops, yes, for sure peanuts are not Induction friendly...but in the world of evils, I would say they were a lesser evil than the Cheezies or the Mars bar, right?
Again though, look for almonds if you are desperate. They are one of the first nuts Dr. A. recommends next to macadamias. And not a lot of vending machines will have macadamias.
But we're all going to be good little Atkineers and pack our lunches and not forget them, right?

Hmmm...couldn't she have picked the pizza and not eaten the crust??? And because you can get caught in situations like this I now carry some hotrods/slimjims in my van just in case.Elsie150
