  • inches lost.. NOT pounds

I am SO confused. I've been doing this woe for a few weeks, and I have lost NO scale weight. Not one single pound. I am, however, losing lots of inches! I'm not lifting weights, so it's not like I'm adding muscle. This happened the first time I was on this woe also. I actually went down about 3 dress sizes, but absolutely NO scale weight loss!! BUT... when I went off the diet I gained about 15 Lbs. (That's what I'm trying to lose now...inches are coming off, but not weight))

I'm not complaining about the inch loss, but HELP ME PLEASE!! What's going on?
No offense but don't tell me "scales lie"
    thank you :help

    WooHoo on the inches lost!

Dr. ATkins wrote that inches lost represents fat emptying from your cells. So don't be discouraged that the scale isn't showing your progress.

Besides,no one will know how much you weigh unless you walk around with a sign that says "Today I weigh ________ pounds". But they will notice that you're 3 dress sizes smaller.

You're doing great! So don't be discouraged.

Daisy we spend a lot of time talking about how many pounds we've lost and not enough about how many inches we've lost, which is the more important aspect of Atkins!

The pounds have literally been crawling it's way down for me, but you know what? the inches are coming off and people NOTICE it.

Do as many of us here - CHUCK THOSE SCALES - they are evil

Same here...I've lost maybe six or seven pounds since NOVEMBER :yikes but my body has changed a lot.
It's nice to throw the numbers at somebody, and I'd like to say I've lost 50 instead of the 40+ that I've lost, but really, what's most important is when I put on that size 10 pair of pants and can wear them comfortably all day.

It'll all catch up and even out for you. Just put the scale away, do your Atkins thing, relax, and enjoy the smaller you. :yes

yes, that initially happened to me too
I'd walk around and people would say "wow, have you lost weight? you look much slimmer" and my clothes were getting looser and looser.. but the scales read me out as the same weight. I don't know what it is, but who cares just enjoy those clothes you thought you couldn't wear forever

Yay!! Thank you all so much. Yes, I really am happy that the inches are coming off, and I certainly don't want to sound like I'm complaining! It's just odd because we DO talk more about weight than inches, so I thought something was wrong with me.
            Thank you all!

Daisy, don't worry about the pounds as long as the inches are coming off.

My state requires a "weight" on our drivers licenses. When I got mine renewed the clerk looked at me and said "195?" I said yes. At that time I weighed 215!

So don't get stressed over the scale. If you're smaller in size, you've lost weight and the scales be damned.

I know how discouraging the scale can be...I have changed my WOL now since January (it was my new years resolution lol).

When I first started I think I lost 12 pounds during that 14 day induction period. Since then, the scales have been slower than a turtle...One week I lose 2 pounds, the next I gain 2..it's so un motivating, especially when you rely on it to motivate you.

But with that said, I am almost 5 months into this WOL and have lost almost 50 pounds now. It eventually catches up with you even though you may not see the weight results yet, but believe me with patience and perseverence you will. I have also lost a ton of inches and have went down 4 sizes. That itself will motivate you. Just stick to it and eventually your body will get used to the routine.

Make sure you drink tons of water also!

                Good luck :hug

That is very strange - to lose 3 dress sizes but no pounds? Either way, lsoting SIZES is what this is all about! I didn't lose a single pound for about 6 months but my body shaped dramatically! Keep it up!!!!

Sounds like we all have the same story to tell. Inches gone and the scale stays the same.

Who would think that I weighed 194 to 197, depending on the day. And I wear size 12 to 14 jeans. The button/zipper ones. People think I am the same weight as I was in high school. In high school I weighed 145 and now I weigh 194. Wearing the same size clothes. I can't figure this one out but I am not going to wear a sign saying(I weigh 194). LOL

                      Happy Low carbing!
