  • How much is an ice cream scooper full of rice worth carb wis

Say I have a really hard time cutting out rice entirely. Does anyone know how much rice would amount to 20g of carbs per day?

According to www.fitday.com one cup of cooked rice contains 44.09 grams of carbs less 0.626 grams of fibre - making a net carb count of just over 43 carbs. I dont know about you but I think I used to eat a couple of cups-worths of basmati rice at least at one meal before Atkins :sadblinky
But according to 'the book' rice is not an option when you are on induction or anywhere below the grains rung of owl. When you reach the grains rung you would be able to have about a 10th of a cup of boiled rice - just over 1.5 tablespoons worth - as your added 5 net carbs!
If you then stay on that rung and add 5 net carbs of rice in 2-weekly additions for a couple of months or so you might find if your CCLL is fairly high that you could be having a 'serving' of rice each day by the time you reached goal. :yes
But you are supposed to have at least half of your daily carbs as vegetables, don't forget.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Nocturnal please TRY to give up rice during Induction.

I've grown up with rice and it is incredibly hard not to eat it, esp as Sydney is full of Indian, Japanese, Thai, Chinese - asian restaurants EVERYWHERE. Not eating rice means I practically die of thirst after the meal because of the amount of salt & flavour enhancers used, so I've had to give up eating Asian in restaurants

But after Induction, and now 5 months down the track, I CAN live without rice :yes. I know one day I'll attempt to include brown rice (more nutritious than white) back into my diet, but for now, I have learnt not to miss it so much.
