Hi! I have been lurky for quite some time and just decided to sign up today. I started today on the induction. My goal is to lose about 11 lbs before I go to the beach on July 10th, do you think this will happen for me?

I did atkins last summer and lost 25 lbs (still had those last 15 to go and came off the diet and it's just been so hard to get back on until now). I didn't realize I had been doing atkins wrong until I was reading here a few weeks ago about not having jello and nuts....I ate a lot of that last summer! Whoops!! LOL

Anyway, my name is Dana and I will be 30 next Friday and I currently weigh 146. My 'mini' goal weight is 135, but I'd love to be 130 (I haven't been 130 since I was 16!).

I hope I can come here for motivation because I tend to have a problem after 2-3 days on induction. I can't seem to make it 2 weeks but I have a huge goal in mind this time (beach and bathing suit) so hopefully that will motivate me a lot!

So far my fav food is cream cheese mixed with tuna and eating it with broccoli and cucumbers. Yum!!!

      Hi, and welcome, Pinky! :wave

First of all, do you have your copy of the 2002 edition of DANDR (Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution) book? Reading the book is not an option but a requirement! Your understanding of this WOL will improve.

Next, I do want to stress that Atkins is not a crash diet to go on to "fit into my bikini" then go off of after hitting that 130 lbs goal. That is a lovely goal, but if you want all the health benefits and long-term weight control, you need to make the decision to stick with the entire Atkins program.

Regarding Induction, you can do it! It's critical to be strict. If you feel like cheating (even on low carb stuff not acceptable on Induction) just post a thread asking for support and we will get you through it.

      You can do it!

      No Weigh Until Christmas Day!!!

        Welcome ~

Glad you decided to unlurk and join the group. You'll find all kinds of forums here that you will relate to that can encourage and motivate you as you do Atkins and get healthy and lose weight. Make sure you read the before/after success of others and the Loser's Lounge stories. They will give you advice on how others have adopted this WOE as a part of their life.

Best wishes and keep us posted on your success.

Thanks everyone!! I know I will find great support here, that's why I decided to join!! :icondance

As for my "goal" and moving on.....well like I said, I did atkins for the entire summer last year and lost 25 lbs and then came off here and there. I allowed myself a break on Fridays so I could stick to it and I've maintained and lost a few pounds since then, but now I'm ready to get serious about losing the rest, that's why I started the induction all over again.
