  • New Member. Just had a baby.

    Hi,

I thought I would introduce myself as a new member and on my second day of induction. (I am really tired today) My name is Nicole, I gained 115lbs with my first pregnancy and lost about 60lbs. I am now at 165lbs and looking to loose 30-40lbs to regain my normal preprego weight. I am scared to have another baby being over my normal weight. I also am having terrible self-esteem issues. I have never been on a diet and I hope that I am doing my induction correctly. I am a carb and caffeine addict but I am sucking it all up and going through with this. Come **** or high water, I will succeed. I had a question about diet coke with splenda, I did see the alloted amount? If anyone knows and lets me know...thanks in advance. I look forward to talking with everyone!!

Hello, welcome and congratulations on your new baby! In case you missed it in your reading, we are allowed three servings of artificial sweetener per day (Splenda being one of the sweeteners Dr. Atkins recommends). You'd have to read the label on the Coke to see how much a serving size is, etc. I would think it would be at least one serving of sweetener if not more.

congratulation on you new baby and congratulations on choosing this way of eating to lift your self esteem, your weight to normal and best of all so you will be healthy for your precious new baby.

This way of eating will do so much more for you. You will never regret eating the low carb way.

        Happy low carbing

Thanks for the well wishing!!! I am through day 2 already!! I can't wait to loose my weight. I also go to Curves for Women which has already helped me but I think with Atkins and Curves, I will be in good shape.

            Congrats on your little one.

Just to add to what everyone else has written, if you are breastfeeding, the weight loss phases of Atkins are not appropriate for you according to Dr. Atkins. You might want to check out the Pregnant forum of these boards too.

Congrats on the new baby and welcome to ha

You are going through what everyone here calls the "induction flu". Your body is getting rid of all that caffeine and carbs your body was used to...kind of a detox. You should feel better in a couple of days. I went through that then all of a sudden had a burst of energy one day and knew I was doing the right thing

                Good luck!
