  • Help Me!

Hello everyone..I am on day 5 of induction and have been doing great until today. My problem is I suddenly started feeling dizzy, like I couldn't breathe with a pounding chest. I freaked out since I have two young children at home with me and felt like I might pass out. I ran and ate a half of a banana and then 5 m&m's. That was about 15 mins. ago and I am starting to feel better now. I am really upset, because I was very excited about this program. I only have about 15 lbs. to lose and lost 4 in the first four days. Does anyone have any idea why this might have happened? Was my blood sugar too low? Did I lose too much weight too quickly? Is it possible to start Atkins in the OGW phase or a later phase? I did read the threads that others posted about heart palpitations, and I would say that my experience was similar. If those people are still out there, did your palpitations ever go away? I can't afford the possibility of passing out or getting disoriented because as I said I have two small children at home. BTW, I am 31 yo female, 5'3", 126 lbs.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Post your menues from the last few days. Also have you been drinking your water and taking your vitamin supplements?

Here are my menus for the past few days..

I have been drinking tons of water, and although I forgot my vitamin yesterday, I usually take one.

Your calories look good, as do your carbs, fats and proteins.

It could be that your blood sugar was too low, especially if your problems cleared up after you ate carbs. If you haven't been doing so already, spread your carbs out throughout the day to keep your blood sugars even. Remember, you shouldn't go more than 6 waking hours without eating. If you have to divide your meals into 4 or 6 smaller meals or 3 meals with 2 or 3 snacks throughout the day, your blood sugar might be kept at a more steady level.

Make sure you aren't eating or drinking anything that can drop your blood sugar, like caffeinated beverages.

If this happens again, please seek medical help.

Oh yeah, for your weight, you should stick to the 64 ounces of water daily. Your current body weight is within the "normal" weight range for your height. So you shouldn't be drinking the large volumes that us heavier folks have to drink.

          me too!!!

Last summer I was working as a cashier and lo-carbing like crazy... even though I am pretty positive I was doing it all wrong (eating the low carb yogurts and what not.) Anyway, I felt dizzy while ringing up a customer and I got that "hot" sensation where I felt like even my eyebrows were sweating... I got nauseous and proceeded to pass out cold in the store. Totally embarrassing! The worst part was people finding out it was because of my diet, so they FORCED me to eat foods I really didn't want to.

I always get light headed when I don't eat properly... which has sometimes been not eating a thing. The only thing that I can suggest is keep those veggies comin! Drink your water too, the faint can be a combo of dehydration and lack of nutrients.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will try to add some more veggies in and see if that helps at all!
