  • (Unbreaded) Fried Meats

Is it ok to have fried lean meats (unbreaded) during Induction or any phase of the plan?

    If you want!!
You may have to add some fat to your meals though - we aim at a ratio of 65% fat/30% protein/55 carbs on induction.
Fry your meat in butter or oil, Add a full-fat dressing to salads etc.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Definitely. Whether it pan fried or even deep fat fried (wings YUM!), Atkins WOE celebrates the fat addition of our diet. By the way you can bread deep fat foods in either pork rinds (I have heard minute steaks with pork rinds makes a great country fried steak) or parmesan cheese (my favorite for crispy wings). Enjoy your foods.

I love cubed steak (fry) or chicken(fry) or pork chops (bake).

        Dip in egg then

I mix crushed pork rinds, parmesan cheese (alot) and garlic powder.

The best! And leftovers can be used in your salad the next day. :nod

The pork rind and parmesan cheese breading sounds really good! I used to love country fried steak before I started trying to change my eating habits. Glad to get an ok about the fried foods--just had some wings tonight! I could never have done that while eating low cal! :joy

I dunno if it is just me, but pork rinds sound nasty. Obviously alot of people like them. Can someone please explain what they taste like?

              Thanks,
              Kelly
I will stay on my diet. I will get healthy and lose weight. There is nothing I could eat or drink that tastes as good as how I feel at this moment on this WOE ~ nothing!

Kelly I normally get the flavored ones like BBQ or Salsa and they taste like eating potato chips to me with that crunch. Try a few and see if you like them. I think you will. :yes

Read the ingredients on the flavoured ones as they often contain starches or sugars.

They really are an acquired taste. I really like using the plain ones to scoop up tuna salad. Sounds disgusting, but it's a great crunchy squishy taste/texture combo.

I agree eating pork rinds sounds and smells bad, but that said, if they are crushed and used as breading or as a recipe ingredient they are pretty darn good. I used to be a big pork rind hater, but now they have definite uses (even in making the best low carb pancakes).
