Hi everyone. I am on day 6 of my induction phase. I have tried the atkins diet before, but have never made it this far. I am very proud of myself. I haven't weighed myself yet. I am to scared, but I was wondering if anytihgn I was doing could be slowing me down. I think my biggest problem, is my main drink of choice has been diet coke with splenda. I barley drink any water. Will that have a huge affect on the diet, and how? Also isn't it bad to have sugar free jello, since it has aspartme in it? Oh one more thing. Somethings, like pork rinds and whip cream say no carbs, but sugar is in the ingrediants..what does this mean? Sorry for all the questions, hopefully someone can answer them? Thank you!!!! :wave

You need to be drinking the water. Water hydrates the body, and our skin needs the water.
While drinking the diet soda is technically okay for induction, do keep in mind that you need to count the carbs and remember that you are only allowed 3 carbs of the splenda per day, and I believe a can of diet coke would count for 1 1/2 of those carbs.
You always need to read the packages because yes, sugar can be hidden anywhere. Most of the time pork rinds will be okay, but always read ingredients.
Yes, you are right about the sugar free jello with the aspertame.
Another reason for avoiding even the splenda and other sugar substitutes during induction is to get rid of those cravings. Many people found that it was better just to stay away from even splenda because it would keep those cravings alive.
Hope this helps you some.

thankyou very much. I am going to start drinking more water. I just don't want to do anything to postpone my weight loss. Hopefully I will start losing soon because was a major carb addict and these past 6 days have been a drastic change for my diet. I have been craving lots of sweets, so maybe it could be the diet coke and splenda. Thankyou again.

The amount of water to drink daily is this:
8 - 8 ozs. of water, plus 8 ozs of water for every 10 pounds you need to lose.
I find the easiest way is to measure it out in the morning and put in refrigerator and know that I will drink all that water before the end of the day. Just a suggestion, this works for me.
Happy low carbing!!

Hi and welcome!! Congrats on sticking with Induction!
First and foremost, water is not optional, but absolutely critical to fat loss. Please read WHY THE SCALE CAN LIE in the FAQ forum. You will be convinced about drinking lots of water then.
