  • Day 3 of Induction.... HELP!!!

Hi, I'm brand new here and need some help... any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
I'm on my third day of Induction and it seems like I'm GAINING weight instead of losing!!!! I've kept my carbs low (under 20g... well, one day was like 25) and I'm drinking a LOT of water... but I look fatter. (Ok, guys, laugh, but I really do!) I'm not sure if it's just bloating from having so much water or whether the fat from so much meat and cheese is piling pounds on.
I haven't reached ketosis yet and I'm scared that I won't... had the worst peanut butter craving today and almost gave in. Do you guys know why my stomach would be sticking out more in the last three days? Or if a little peanut butter would hurt if I went out to get some? (Cravings are KILLING ME right now...)

Any tips would be lovely, and I will be here to support you all (with the limited knowledge that I have!)

    Cheers

Please post a days menu so we can see whats going on with you.

Have you opened a free account at www.fitday.com? That helps keep track of carb, protiens and fats (along with some other stuff) for you.

Are you drinking 64 oz water plus 8 oz for ever 25 pounds you want to lose?

I'm not too sure whether I should post my days menu here or in another thread. I guess doing both won't hurt. Today:

Breakfast: 2 eggs, 100mL egg white
      3 tablespoons shredded mozarella
      3 slices turkey (bacon-style, 0g)
Glass of soymilk (unsweetened, 3g carbs per cup)

      Lunch: Can of tuna
      2 big leaves lettuce
      3 thin slices tomato
5 thick slices cheddar (estimated 100g total)

      Snack: 4 breakfast sausages (1g carb each = 4g)
      1/2 Cup of brocolli

      Dinner: Chicken breast
      Gouda cheese (100g)

      Snack: 1 Veggie dog (1.8 g carb)
MORE cheese... oh dear this is looking bad

Wow, looking at that I can see that my cheese portions are absolutely out of control... I must have eaten at least 350n the last day. I know I'm meant to be limited to MUCH MUCH less than that... looks like I'm doing this thing all wrong.
Sticking to the water thing really well, though. I'm concerned about the day that I went OVER 20g carbs though.... (I hit about 25-2. Does that mean my body won't have been "working towards" ketosis for that one day? Do I have to start over again?

The first thing I notices was the cheese overload :yikes and I see you did too. Remember maximum 4oz cheese per day.

Soy milk is not allowed on induction

Are you eating just the egg white? Why? Eat the whole egg to get the maximum benefit.

Watch the sausage. Most of them contain sugar and ae high in sodium.

Not enough veggies. 2 cups salad veggies and one cup "other" or 3 cups of salad veggies per day. This is a must!

I dont know what a veggie dog is, but get rid of it.

I didnt see any fat in your menu.

Go to the part of this forum that says "Review My Menu" and you can get some ideas for menus.

        Good luck!

i agree with what CherTLC4u said :yes
Maybe some butter on that broccoli and some fullfat dressing on the lettuce?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

The general rule of thumb is to eat 65%fat 30%protein and 5%carbs. Fitday is great for keeping track of percentages. And ditto on the cheese! I woudn't be too concerned yet - the woosh may just be taking a little while.
