girl im with you there...I don't really know how to cook, but I am learning and lately have made some pretty good dishes! Just follow recipes exactly...don't try to "power cook" things by using a higher temp and less time...it always screws things up! haha that's what I always did...Heavy cream is by the milk, usually in a small milk carton, like a pint or half pint. It will say Heavy Cream or Heavy Whipping cream...don't worry I never bought any before I started atkins either :-p

Heavy cream is allowed. The amount listed is 3 tablespoons daily. It is also listed in the Special Food Category with the amount of 3 ounces, but the Special Food Category has a warning that those food might cause weight loss stalls or slow downs and might need to be avoided during Induction.

By the way, if you are a new cook or don't know much about cooking, I highly recommend that you purchase a liquid measuring cup, a set of "dry" measuring cups and measuring spoons. This will aid tremendously in properly measuring your foods. Some folks are really surprized at the amount of 1 cup loosely packed lettuce really is. Likewise, they are equally surprized at the actual amount of 1 tablespoon of salad dressing or mayonnaise.

I also recommend a food scale as well. I invested in a nice digital one and i love it! ... i couldnt live without it. I had no idea how much an ounce of cheese was before i bought it LOL. I use it for custom foods in fitday, when they have a weight as a portion on the packaging, you can be exact in your fitday amounts...or just know exactly how many servings of that food you are eating.

Oh, gosh. I just pour the salad dressing on! I don't remember reading (I have the DANDR 1992) that there is a limit on salad dressing??? Is this going to royally screw me up?

I am a horrible cook! No lie. I suggest that if you don't have one - invest in a George Foreman Grill. It comes with a little booklet that tells you exactly how long to cook things. Everything comes out nice and juicy. If I cook on the stove, its dry and barely edible :no

Depends, what kind of dressing. Mayo is usally safe, although I wouldn't use globs of it, because most of them do contain sugar even though its at the bottom of the list. I think Kraft ranch has 1 carb per 2tbl spoons....so be careful.

You know, If I learned how to cook, My eating would probally be alot more interesting.

I'm a great cook, from generations of great southern cooks, but it doesn't take a great cook to create some tasty Atkins meals. If you don't know what you're doing, it may be worth investing in a basic 'how to' cooking book that covers simple stuff. There are also loads of low carb cookbooks out there.

I don't have any human kids, just dogs, but I have 3 nieces and 3 nephews and as they've grown up, I've always had fun kitchen time with all of them, teaching them how to cook, bake, make candy, etc.... If you've got relatives or friends who know how to cook, see if they'll let you hang out with them and pick up some tips!

Once you get the basic know-how's down pat, you can experiment and create dishes that you like and before you know it, you'll be a great cook too! :yes

Great suggestion - in our house my dad was the experimental cook and as I was 'Daddy's girl' I got to learn to cook when the other three didnt!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
