  • going to stay with some family for a week out of town..

and I really don't want to spend all my $ eating out, which will probably cause me to end up stalling anyways from all the hidden no-no's in restaurant food...do you think it would be weird if I went grocery shopping and made my own meals at their house? I just don't want it to seem weird or for me to get in anyone's way in the kitchen...or should I stick to snack type easy to prepare foods like salads and microwave stuff?

It depends. You can offer to cook or contribute to their meals. Usually most people will have some sort of meat dish and some sort of veggie dish. You can eat around the non-Atkins things too.

But I think the most important thing to do is tell them upfront that you are on a diet, in which you cannot eat added sugars, and refined flours/grain products..

yeah...it's not that i don't trust their cooking, but it really takes some education to know about extent of excess sugars..like corn startch, malodextrin, things of that nature...i just don't know if theyd think to look on everything before throwing it in a dish. All they pretty much eat are hamburgers, pizza, tacos and spaghetti...not really, but all of their meals are basically a variation of those lol. I'll probably take a bunch of money with me and just go shopping and make huge casseroles, I bet they will love them, and maybe I'll turn them onto atkins!

Whats funny is alot of people don't even know that Atkins dishes are Atkins friendly unless you tell them.

I think it depends on whether they know how serious you are about how you changed your W.o.e.

Just kinda bow out of things you have to as kindly as possible.
