  • went a little hogwild at a BBQ...

I was at a barbecue on saturday evening, and hadn't eaten much the whole day... went a little overboard on the BBQ ribs. I'm sure the BBQ sauce wasn't Atkins-approved, but then I read somewhere that some of the sugar burns off during the grilling process. Can you please tell me how many carbs I realistically consumed if I ate 10 medium-sized pork spareribs, marinated and basted in a brown-sugar/molasses based hickory barbecue sauce?

They were absolutely delicious. Well worth every bite. Yet I'm still curious to know how much they cost me, in carbs as currency...

    thanks!
    -Sabrina

I would guess around 30-40 carbs.
The secret to good ribs is to cook them THEN put the sauce on....so I doubt it burned off.

    Well worth every bite.
Nothing tastes as good as thin feels. Something for next time.

The secret to success is you have to plan ahead. Plan for success!!!

Now with my new WOL(way of life) I would have called and asked the menu. When they said BBQ ribs, I would have asked if they could make me some without sauce, or would have brought me something else to eat. I take my own foods with me all the time. Induction friendly!

We have to take charge of our lives and eating foods that is on the list.

You ask what it cost you? It could cause you to crave sugary foods. It could cause you to stall your weightloss. It could cause weight gain! :yikes Was it REALLLLY worth every bite?

But this is part of life. We all have to make our way. Sometimes we slip and sometimes we make great progress.

Pick yourself up, drink lots of water to help flush this carby meal out of your system. consentrate on eating on plan and remember that secret!!! Plan for success. Work it out in your mind how you are going to stay on plan and then do it.

      Happy Low Carbing.

If a person is just starting Atkins, you're in the process of developing new eating habits, and new attitudes towards food.

I caution people to be careful not to fall into the frame of mind of 'One bite won't hurt!' or 'I think it's probably ok, so I'll eat it and check later'.

I don't know about you, but I want this weight off ASAP! :yes I've been to BBQ's, buffets and parties and there's always something really good to eat that I can feel comfortable with. It's all about planning and choice.

This was a good experience for you and I'm sure you'll be better prepared next time. :yes
