  • Need ideas for delicious salad dressing.....

Anyone have a delicious salad dressing they use that is
legal for induction use? What about just using real mayo-
would that work too? I don't really like oil and vinegar
and am just learning to be a salad eater!

    Russian Dressing
    3/4 cup Mayo
    2 tablespoons Low Carb Ketchup
    1 teaspoon Horseradish
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Mix together. If it's too thick add some bland tasting oil to thin it out.

    Thousand Island
    3/4 cup Mayo
    2 tablespoons Low Carb ketcup
    1 tablespoon chopped sweet pickle*
    1 tablespoon finely chopped onion

Mix together. If it's too thick add some bland tasting oil to thin it out.

*Mount Olive makes a Splenda sweetened gherkin pickle. You can finely chop a couple of gherkins for the chopped sweet pickle

I make my own mayo, its easy!
      1 egg
      1 Tbsp vinegar
      salt and pepper
      oil about a cupful
Blend/whisk egg, vinegar and seasoning, drizzle oil in very slowly. Stop when its thick. Store in the fridge.
      You can make different flavours:
      vinegar; malt, tarragon, cider
      herbs, fresh or dried
      garlic
Add with the salt and pepper

I know it is always better to make everything from scratch...
But I can't resist Brianna's Asiago Caesar. It has 140 caloris per 2T serving and most of that is fat, but each serving has only 1g carbs. It is a bit expensive (3-3.50 a bottle) But so worth it. In fact I have my husband SHIP it to me over seas because I can't get it here!!!
I also like Newmans Own Caesar dressing. (I am not sure if these are strictly induction friendly though)

Hmm...I just get the regular ol' blue cheese or ranch from the store. Ken's creamy caesar and parmesan peppercorn are really good too! I don't think you need to get those low carb dressings. Just read the labels, and most of the full fat creamy dressings are low in carbs.

I'm too cheap to buy the 'low carb' labelled dressings, especially when the regular ones are fine for us to have...just read the label.

I make a great broccoli salad with raw broccoli, cooked bacon pieces, grated cheddar and a dressing of mayo, splenda and red wine vinegar. Mix the dressing to taste...I like mine on more of the tart side with just enough splenda to take the edge off.

Allrecipes.com has a big salad dressing collection...with your Acceptable Foods list in hand you can cruise through there and find all sorts of delicious things. :yes

Oh now that does sound good!! I even have both of those in my fridge right now.

I like to mix italian dressing and mayo for something different, and it makes a great dip as well.

And a bit off topic, mixing mayo and low-carb BBQ sauce is great on burger patties!

ooo, all the suggestions here sound soooo good!

I'm definitely going to try a few out. :nod

Lately I've been finding that less is more on my salads...not sure why....

I have a can of black olives in my fridge that I take from daily....sometimes I just use the olive juice from the can on my salads...nothing special...but tasty and quick!

I use this as the basis for all my dressings:
                    1 cup Mayo
                    3 packets Splenda
                    2 tsp vinegar

To this I add a number of different flavors - cheeses, cracked pepper, italian seasoning, etc.

Ranch from the packet - I don't like the bottled

                      Marie's Bleu Cheese dressing

Ken's Creamy Ceasar - I empty the whole bottle into a container and add crushed garlic, return to original bottle. Ceasar has to be garlicky or it isn't ceasar!

Oh yes, and for coleslaw - mayo, sour cream & horseradish

Re: Need ideas for delicious salad dressing.....

Caesar dressing is my favorite. But my family likes a homemade creamy italian dressing. Ingredients are estimated as I just dump it all together to taste when I make it. Sweet and garlicky is how they like it here.

                          1 1/2 cup mayo
                          1/4 tsp garlic powder
                          1/4 tsp onion powder
                          1/4 tsp paprika
                          1/4 tst celery seed
                          salt & pepper to taste
1/8 c or less splenda, depending on how sweet you like it
2 tb minced onion (sometimes use dry onion)
                          1 tb white vinegar
water to thin to desired consistance

Re: Need ideas for delicious salad dressing.....

I like to use a lot more than one serving for my salads, so I no longer buy the pre-made dressings. My favorite dressing is blue cheese, so I grab the mayo and scoop out the amount I want into a bowl, then sprinkle in blue cheese crumbles---yum!!!

Oh, and I use mayo instead of high carb dressings in fast food places too--those packets are really high!!
