  • Just started the group and just survived my first hard trial

    Hello everyone,

I'm new to the group and so happy to be here! I tried low carb last year, but I wasn't really doing it correctly, so no wonder it didn't work and I gave up! I'm currently reading DANDR, and it makes so much sense to me now! I decided that I had to give it another shot this year when I went to my favorite place in the world Cedar Point (the best amusement park in the world, and thus my username) last year, and I almost didn't fit into the seats for the roller coasters! It was so humiliating, and I just can't let that happen this year! I tried the low fat thing (after my sister insisted that I would hurt myself if I continued doing low carb. Although I wasn't doing it correctly anyway) and just kept gaining weight so that now I'm 15 lbs larger than last year. This can't happen, I won't let it! I'm happy to say that I'm doing a totally cheat free induction, and I just hit my first week. I've lost 7 lbs, I haven't been hungry at all! This is the best WOE ever, and so healthy and good for you! I feel great, and I even just turned up my nose at my favorite sweet at the office, birthday cake. It was hard, but I kept thinking about those seats in Cedar Point, and that end goal really keeps me going. I've got exactly 7 and a half more weeks before this year's trip to Cedar Point, and I know that I'll fit this year! Thank you everyone for the support, as a long time lurker, I can tell you that it's so helpful!

      Hi Tara! :wave

Good job on avoiding the birthday cake!!
My life used to revolve around stuff like that..trying to find discreet ways to get the biggest piece, or have a second piece...so much so I would miss out on a lot of the fun of the occasion. Life is going to throw a lot of that sort of stuff at you, so be prepared...either eat before you go to something like that, or eat liberally of the things you can eat when you are at a function so you aren't hungry when the treats arrive.

off topic here..last fall I went to the PNE in Vancouver and my goal was to ride the wooden roller coaster. We got in line and all of a sudden it was our turn. I sat down on the seat, the bar went down and I was thrilled to see that I wasn't squished in...in fact there was lots of room. :joy

As soon as we went down that first damn hill though I was wishing I was squished in!! :yikes I screamed bloody murder the whole ride and would've wrapped my legs around the bar if I had been able to..geez, it felt like I was going to be thrown out!
      I don't think I'm as much of a daredevil as I imagine I am...lol

Everytime I go to the PNE I take one look at that wooden rollercoaster and say 'no way!'...hahaha. That thing scares me to death just looking at it!

Yeah, it's really nice not having to worry about that particular piece that must be mine, and instead pay attention to the conversation. As far as wooden roller coasters are concerned, they're the best!

Never will I ever and I mean EVER set foot on that horrible thing ever again in my life!!

It was awful..lol..it was a rough jarring ride that scared the bejeepers out of me! I couldn't stop screaming, and I feared for my life. I had to force myself to open my eyes a few times because I really wanted to enjoy the ride but they kept snapping shut.
When the ride ended, people turned around and looked to see who the screamer was.

            lol
I'm such a wussie...but I did ride it, gosh darn it!
