  • what happened?!

    Guys,

I need help. I am on day 15 and I feel miserable. I was down to 137 (from 145, pre-Induction) through Friday, Sat, Sun & Mon, but since then, I can tell that I've gained weight, I'm bloated, and I haven't properly been to the bathroom since Sunday.

I realize that I overdid it on Saturday with the BBQ ribs and a couple cocktails (minimal carbs, but I drank nevertheless), but can it really have had this much of a detrimental effect on me?

It could also be that I've essentially been inactive all week... I have a big project due tomorrow and have been at my desk for long hours trying to complete it in time.

Here's a link to my food log. Please tell me what has happened.

    Thank you!
    -a very depressed Sabrina

Hi - Have you considered dropping the bars, shakes and chocs?
Many people find they cause them to stall.

The alcohol will have delayed any weightloss while your body utilised the alcohol and stored any surplus fat for later use too, and it might have kicked you out of ketosis :sadblinky
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

      Hi Sabrina.

Your body is going to experience fluctuations day to day, hour to hour and sometimes minute to minute. It comes with the territory. If you haven't used the bathroom in a few days it would certainly explain you feeling bloated and yucky, as well as heavier.

BBQ ribs & the drinks absolutely can and will through you for a loop after eating cleanly and going through a carb-withdrawal. It would cause to you bloat - that's what replenishing our glycogen stores does to us.

You're also still eating low-carb junk food - shakes and bars, as well as other low-carb products. These things are not appropriate for induction.

And yep, it's partially that you've been inactive.

There's a bigger picture at play, and it doesn't just have to do with what you put in your mouth on Saturday-although you can rest assured that's part of the feeling icky bit and the bloating - but constipation and a lack of activity aren't helping in those arenas.

Address the constipation issue, get some exercise, and eat cleanly - then if you're still having trouble holler.

        Thanks guys...

I can totally tell that I'm not in ketosis, all this week. And it's true, I do eat a bar or shake at least once a day (usually once) but it didn't hinder me when I first started. I think it's something else.

The last couple of days I did notice my ratios were out of balance. Too low on fats. I'll pay more attention to it tomorrow.

What can I do to reverse the damage done and get back on track?

By the way, Brook, your before and after pictures are amazing! Definitely gives me hope!

        -Sabrina

Why would you think it's not hindering your loss, and how would you even begin to know that or guess without giving them up? I understand they're a crutch, but ummm...aren't the crutches part of what got you in trouble in the first place? Eat real food for snacks and get rid of the crap you need a degree in chemical engineering to pronounce the ingredients of There are reasons why people keep telling you to drop them.

You can't reverse the "damage" you've done - you can't un-eat something you've eaten, but you can eat cleanly, exercise, drink your water and continue your supplementation and make better choices from here on out

Thank you, Sabrina, for the wonderful compliment! I appreciate it very much!!

If you're not going to the bathroom, start taking psyllium or flax seed. It'll get you going. Part of what you are experiencing may be induction constipation.

But listen, DEFINATELY GIVE UP THE LOW CARB JUNK FOOD!!!!! It may not have hindered you earlier, but chances are it is doing so now. And if MAY have been hindering you earlier, but you didn't know it. THose things are so full of crap, sugar alcohols. etc. Do NOT use them during Induction. Do NOT. Those of us who've been doing this for awhile have heard more horror stories......

Now as for exercise, it is non- negotiable. Take a walk. Get moving. Your body will feel MUCH better!
