  • My kids broke my scale :(

Well gee whiz....I went to get on the scale this morning (my new morning ritual) and it said I was 149lbs! Woohoo! (yeah, right!) hahaha....from 196 to 149 in 2 days...it's a miracle! :yikes

Yes, my kiddies broke my scale. My two older boys each had a friend stay the night and they decided to all get on the scale together to see how much they weighed.... ....now, it's a goner. :sadblinky

I soooo look forward each day to my morning 'weigh in'....I know some of you don't do the scale thing...but for me, as I'm kickin' things off, I find it very motivating to see the scale moving so early into this WOE!! I know soon enough I won't want to be looking every day...haha...but for now, it helps.

My next scheduled measurment session is on Sunday...I'm looking forward to that because I really can see a difference already with my clothes. :joy

But, I feel naked without my scale!!!!! ARRGH......

Something like that happened to me once...it said 91.
      I thought it meant 191....like I dropped 9 pounds.
But nope....somehow it got switched to kg instead of lbs.

I am a slave to the scale! I weight myself every morning (and then some lol) I don't always lose (of course) but, it just makes me feel in control I guess.

Re: My kids broke my scale

I used to live for my scale but it died awhile back and having just re-inducted almost 2 weeks ago I am just as happy to not have it this time around. I was always happier with my measurements than what the scale told me. So this time around thats what I am doing and just as soon as I can get back into my jeans I will purchase a new scale.

              Thanks for the condolences Brook....hehehe

And yes..that quote had me ROTFL when I first saw it...feel free to use it!

Iapetus....dang! don't you hate it when that happens? haha

TabeKat...I hear ya....for me right now it has been a real motivator...I know as time goes on and my weight loss slows/stalls at times it won't be as effective a motivator though...lol

gal osh...maybe it is a control thing....I dunno....any psychologists in the house?

Good for you Terry....whatever keeps you motivated!

Re: My kids broke my scale

The scale can either be your worst friend or your worst enemy. However, the tape measure never lies. Make it your new best friend! The scale is an o.k "guideline" but the tape measure is where the truth is. It may take longer to get the results but it's closer to truth than the scale. I went from being a scale slave to a "eh...who cares what you say you heartless thing" scale person. Your clothes and the tape measure are all that matters. I think of the scale as an obnoxious distant realitive who thinks they can say what they want but don't have a darned clue what they're talking about. Your scale being broke is a mixed blessing...enjoy it!

Re: My kids broke my scale

The problem for me is that my measurements fluctuate due to human error. My scale is always accurate from day to day, so I trust it. I don't let myself get worked up if I see a number I don't like, so I guess that's my justification for weighing everyday. My batteries are currently dying, so I'm not able to do the body fat % and that's killing me. I do it once a week at the same time of day.

ROTFL!! I agree! I DID break and buy another scale....and, well, I wasn't too happy with my first weigh in on it. Today's weigh in was MUCH better though...lol.

Today is also my measuring day....wish me luck!

I think I will stop my morning weigh ins and add it to my 2week regime along with my measuring. Hopefully that will help keep it a motivator. If not, I'm going to toss it for good.

This is a good point....it's hard sometimes to measure 'exactly' where you measured last time...

One thing I learned REAL fast when measuring is....ALWAYS WHERE THE SAME BRA!! LMAO....I measured using a different bra and thought I'd gained 2inches in my bust! (not a 'bad' place to gain, per se....but...lol) Then I realized it was a different bra and held my chest up higher.

Re: My kids broke my scale

Ah - the scale (friend or foe).

Well I weigh myself every other day or so. This past week I did not lose but one pound. I feel it is because of my working out (Slim in 6). My entire body is feeling toned and I see muscles popping out that I never knew I had. So since muscle is heavier than fat - I think this accounts for the little weight loss. Because I measured myself and I was very suprised by the loss.

I do think the scale should be used though to keep us in check.
