  • He Says She Says re: Salad Dressing

My husband is joining me in this WOE on Tuesday and is currently preparing. He claims he can eat as much salad dressing as he wants (full fat blue cheese, ranch, etc.) and not count the carbs in his 20 carbs per day.

My feeling is you need to count the carbs in salad dressing as you could easily eat 10+ carbs worth of dressing on a big salad.

Can someone please let us know what is acceptable.

    Thanks so much!!!

Well, he CAN eat as much salad dressing as he wants and not count the carbs toward his 20 per day....

But he won't be doing Atkins.

There are wonderful high-fat dressings out there with only 1 carb per tablespoon.

we count all carbs form all sources in that 20 net carb limit eggs, cheese, veggies, spices sweetner packets, condiments, diet sodas, gum, breathmints, etc., everything that goes in your mouth counts!

Ditto to what everyone else has said, and also....

There's a "salad dressing rule" in the Induction Acceptable Foods List: the dressing must not contain added sugars and must be no more than 2 net carbs.

You may want to tell him what I do. I LOVE blue cheese dressing, but I eat too much, so I mix mayo with blue cheese crumbles. Remember that we tend to pour the dressing on and the serving is 2 T!! Tell your husband to pour the dressing into a Tablespoon twice and see just how small an amount that is. You can definitely overdo it on dressing.

Oh, and 2-3 cups of veggies probably isn't going to equal a "huge salad".

Guys can generally get away with more than women, but that doesn't mean that their body doesn't know what you're doing. The rules are there for a reason.
