  • 3rd day really dizzy!

phew.... very dizzy last night and today. This is my third day and am in the middle of reading the book. I found out that I was doing a couple things wrong...using caffeine, aspartame(why's this a prob?), alcohol(even tho low carb.)

I have CFIDS, borderline diabetes, high blood pressure, multiple chemical sensitivity...

Wondering if this was normal mebbe withdrawal symptom or if I'm doing something wrong. .

It sounds like what we often call 'Induction flu' which is a sign of your body 'detoxing' . It will pass
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Are you taking any blood pressure meds? If so, high tail it to your doctor!! Induction has a dramatic bp lowering effect, and if you are on the meds with a dose that is for the average diet, you will have problems!

This needs to be addressed if you are on the meds.

        Re: 3rd day really dizzy!

Good responses thank you very much! I slept until 4pm today after going to sleep about 1am... must be the flu thing altho I'll check my BP tonight. Luckily my sis is an RN an lives with us right now so that's handy.

My Doc found my blood sugar to be 131 on my last blood test so he wanted me to do an Atkin's type diet for a week and then recheck(next Fri) ... It's been kinda hard on me I feel really out of it, dizzy, weak last two days. I hoped sleeping so long today I would outlast it ,but, it's still hanging on.

I'm looking forowrd to that feeling great stage...whenever that comes!

          Re: 3rd day really dizzy!

I notice that I'm on an emotional roller coaster as well. I found myself tearful a LOT today at the celebrations of independance day...I also found that on the opposite end of the spectrum I'm more irritable than usual.

I was VERY careful today with what I ate as I think yeast may be playing into to some of the symptoms I'm feeling.

I'm still dizzy and find myself short of breath at times for no apparent reason.

Right now the thought of a piece of meat of any kind makes me nauseus

I'm hoping the symptoms ease soon as I don't think I can take it much longer with all this burden on top of already having CFIDS!

How long can I expect this phase to last? I'm going into my 5th day tomorrow...

If it is induction flu, it should be over within 24 hours.

It almost sounds, with the emotional part, like you are experiencing anxiety attacks. The shortness of breath and dizziness, plus the weepiness are all classic symptoms...this can happen because of withdrawal from sugars and some other carbs, but also happens to people who simply have the chemical imbalance.

Since your dr. recommended this, you might check in with him tomorrow and tell him what you are experiencing. He could run a couple of tests to make sure it's not anything dangerous.....What does your sister say?

              Re: 3rd day really dizzy!

              She thinks it's withdrawal...

I drank a TON of Diet Coke every day (for years) so I'm suffering withdrawal from aspartame, caffeine, and sugar. Not to mention all the changes psychologically from the induction menu and how it differs from regular diets.

I also read in the Docs book about yeast and how it can raise a ruckus even in mucous membranes. So i'm wondering if it's causing my nasal passages to swell making it difficult to breath. I find it the worst when I wake in the morning it seems...I almost feel like I have to sit up and breath through my mouth to get my breath. Kind of frightening actually. The panic attack angle is a good idea ,but, it doesn;t feel quite like that...unless it's just more of a generalized anxiety rearing it's ugly head.

I will bounce it off my Doc in the morning...that's a good idea. He wanted me to call to set up an appt to recheck blood sugar anyway.

              THANKS!!!

Its been known to happen. To see if you have a yeast problem, as soon as you wake up in the morning spit into a clean glass. If after a few minutes that spit has tentacles, then that would sum it up.

Your Symptons sound very similair to a combination of Sugar and caffiene withdraw, on top of a lowering of BP. Like G-Mom said, take measure of the meds situation.
