  • Low Carb Drinks on Induction

I am wondering if the Sobe Lean drinks are allowed on induction. They have 0g of sugar and 2.5 g carbs per bottle. They are sweeted by Splenda and are endorsed by South Beach diet. Was just wondering about on Atkins.

    Thanks!!

Re: Low Carb Drinks on Induction

Sobe Lean drinks are not on the Induction list of exceptable foods. Please don't use this product during your 14 days induction.
To do this way of eating correctly, eat foods from the Induction List. If you don't have the list, please go to www.atkins.com and print it. If you don't have the book, please buy one, and READ IT, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 edition. At ADBB we recommend using this edition.

Thanks for the tips Becky Sue. I do have DANDR and have read it. I also have the acceptable food list. Was only asking as I have read posts of people drinking Crystal Light (also not on the list) and wondered if it was the same. I plan on doing extended induction, so I guess the Sobe will have to wait : )

Since there's OJ in it I'd wait until OWL.

          Re: Crystal Light.

There are beverages other than water that are allowed on Atkins. These beverages are in addition to the daily water requirement.
However, Dr. Atkins also said to avoid aspartame, which can lead to no weight loss for some people. Crystal Light powdered is sweetened with aspartame. Crystal Light ready-to-drink is sweetened with splenda. Again, it doesn't count towards the daily water requirement and each serving is counted as 1 of the 3 daily sweetener allotments.

Yep, I don't drink crystal light because of the aspartame.
Clyde, if you want something special and cold to drink from time to time, try Diet Rite soda. I chill or even partially freeze a can of raspberry soda, add a dash of cream, and am in absolute heaven. Especially if I serve it to myself in a large goblet instead of a regular glass!

The difference between the Crystal Light stuff and the drink you mentioned is that the latter contains fruit (orange juice concentrate) whereas Crystal Light is mostly a chemical goo (I think!). Arguably, the Sobe drink is probably healthier but still not for induction. At least that's my opinion!
