      Re: About to quit

why would you give up now? why are you choosing to be overweight when you have already made it through 13 pounds! you barely have any time left on induction. remember, it is up to you to do this. this isn't any one else's choice- we will all go on and live our lives on this way of eating and we will lose weight because we have made teh conscious choice to do so. why don't you think about it this way: is this pizza furthering your best interest in any way? don't give up! losing weight is not easy- its never been easy- if it was, the whole world would be full of tight butts and skinny legs, not in the middle of an obesity epidemic- you have a choice- give up now and you may never lose the weight- it will be another diet that hasn't worked. you're only 18- and you're overweight. why do you want to be that way? you should ask yourself- what are you gaining from being overweight besides temporary satisfaction and some sort of internal security in your current self....

Foods you can eat on Induction

The hard times you describe is your body fighting back. It doesn't want to give up the carbohydrates that it is addicted to. I hope you were able to fight the urges. Even if you did give in and cheat, please check out this link. learn the foods allowed and try some variety of legal foods.
Hope to see you around . I will be watching for you to post just how successful you are becoming by eating this way.

My main problem is I only eat 2 meals I day. I have trouble sleeping at night and cant fall asleep before 3 or 4. I wake up around 12 everyday, and cook 3-4 eggs, and 3 pieces of bacon. In between that and dinner, I usually have a few pieces of cheese. for dinner I have a big piece of meat and salad. I usually feel full enough to last the entire night. Now I am a big guy(6'2) and I think I need more calories than that, but I just cant force anymore food down my throat. I know I sound like a wimp, but its weird. I have been drinking 80-100oz of water a day and thats not a problem since I love drinking anything. we will see how my screw up tonight messed me up when I weigh myself tomorrow.
Please see the link Becky gave you.

Moreover, the Rules of Induction implicitly say "go no more than 6 waking hours without eating" so limiting yourself to 2 meals daily, isn't helping you, your general health nor your metabolism.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you can't expect the benefits that Dr. Atkins promised if you aren't following it properly.

              Re: About to quit

              Scott . . .

I know what you mean bout not being able to get the food down. I have the same problem. I found that eating smaller meals mixed with legal snacks really helps with this. It does get better as time goes on.

You have lost 13 pounds! That is so great! You are 33% of the way there - just think . . . if you stick it out a bit longer, you will reach goal in no time. Also, perhaps consider going on to owl when you reach 14 days - it will allow you to add some new foods, and perhaps that will be the motivation you need.

I hope you hang in there, it is worth the fight.

                    Re: About to quit

I know I wont be able to stick with it and do WOE, but I know I can use this as a kick start to lose weight. I have a friend who started on Atkins, and lost 20 pounds, and then just ate healthy, he was able to lose 60 pounds all together. Hopefully I can do the same.

                      Re: About to quit

                      Scott,
You are a young man and I am so proud that you have been so successful with this WOE.
Even for us older folks,It is hard learning and changing eating habits, but so worth it.
If you decide to not stay on this WOE for life, I hope you have learned to keep a close watch on the high carb foods. Just stay focused and try your bests to limit them.
One thing for sure if you go back to eating like in the past, the weight will come back and my experience, I would always gain more to add to it. I don't want this for you.
Like any life change, you have to be so motivated. You have to want this more than the taste of the high carb foods.

Nothing tastes as good as being thinner. I wish you the very best. I hope you decide to stick around and learn how to get healthier and get to goal.

                      Happy Low Carbing!
