  • Counting Carbs

A friend of mine told me that to get a true Carb count you take the Total Carbs plus Sugars but you subtract any Sugar Alcohols. Example: Total Carbs = 2; Sugars = 2; Sugar Alcohol = 4......this results in 0 Carbs. Just checking to make sure this is correct.

Sugar and sugar alcohol are not allowed on induction. To get true carbs, you take carbs and subtract fiber, leaving you with net carbs.

      Re: Counting Carbs

I read one of the articles below about counting the carbs. I know this may sound stupid, but I'm so new to this that I'm wondering what the full title of the book is that is abbreviated as DANDR?Which book is the best one to buy when you are a NEWBIE?

Sometimes I don't agree with that subtraction stuff with the alcohols. I prefer to keep the Fiber and Carbs together and ignore the alcohols.

Thing is, most of the time, sugar alcohols are found in Frankenfoods which I don't eat anyway so I just ignore them. I did look at the back of a bar once. 15g of S. Alcohols....I wouldn't risk it.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
