Re: Vitamins and supplements
The book says the minimum you'll need is a multivitamin and EFAs (the fish oils) and a fiber supplement.Originally posted by jtharpI'm taking the Atkins multi vitamins......is that enough or are there other supplements I should be taking. Biotin....eh. I know some of the "low carb" diet vitamins advertize that they contain biotin, but thiamine is the B-vitamin that has a bit more to do with metabolism than biotin does. So I think the biotin thing is more marketing ploy than anything else.~Megs~

Re: Vitamins and supplements
Everyone should be taking fish oil (Omega 3s). They are essential for heart health and also reduce inflammation in all parts of the body. I take 2 1000 mg a day with brekkie.
Call me a vitamin freak, but there's about 20 different ones I take. Some may argue they are a 'expensive urine', but let me tell you, I did a test for a week without my vits and I was wiped out just trying to run and do my exercise routines. So yes, I believe in them!! Here's what I take:
Fish Oil 2xday
Multi vitamin (no iron)
Vit B
Flush-free niacin 2xday
Odorless Garlic
Milk Thistle
Calcium Citrate 3xday
Vit C
Vit E
Gingko Biloba 3xday
Chromium picolinate 2xday
Biotin
CoQ10 100 mg a day (everyone needs this!)
I feel great and am running 35 miles a week ... BP is 100/68, blood sugar is 59, cholesterol ratio is 1.12.
