  • How come I do so well in the morning ?

    I do great starting out but by the end of the day.... I have cheated ! I have taken the pictures and know I need to do this .... I just cant figure it out... I have no one to blame but myself ! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr


    Ok, going to try and make it thru the day cheat free ! If I can get one day under my belt, each day should be eaiser... I have 4 kids and they are constantly snacking still no excuse

    Hi Tripletmom!

    I remember very how hard it is to have little ones around and it seems like they are constantly snacking.

    You could try having little meals thruout the day instead of 3 big ones then you wont feel so deprived when everyone else is eating?

    The first day or 2 is the hardest but you can do it by planning ahead what you are going to eat and keeping that water bottle close at hand, and by coming here many many many times a day to get that little extra boost you need to keep going and make the right food choices.

    One poster recently said that when she wanted cake she would go into the bathroom and undress to look at herself in the mirror. It worked for her! We all have to find those little things to bring our prospective back once in awhile.

    You can do this!

        Hi!! This is my first post and first day on Atkins. I look forward to becoming a very active member of the board. All the support and encouragement will be a tremendous help in the days to come.

          Fitday is great............

          Although I dont use it and know I would benefit from it as well. I did use it religiously when I first started low carb and it is an awesome tool. Feel free to PM me anytime you need to vent.

          Hang in there and concentrate on getting one day down. Pay attention to your body and if the dreaded induction flu sets in just yell. We have lots of people here and suggestions......... even a great post to help get you thru.

          Before you know it you will have that wonderful ketosis energy burst!

            My advice...

            1. Eat 6 meals a day instead of 3
            2. Keep atkins-friendly snacks ready all the time
            3. Eat fat when you get a craving. Fat tells the brain that you're' full and will kill your craving. Deviled eggs are good for this since they have mayo and the egg yolk.

              Most likely you do better in the morning because you are more motivated. As the day goes on, you become less and less motivatived and somewhere in the back of your mind you do a Scarlett O'Hara and begin thinking "Tomorrow is another day".

              For your snacking children, I suggest that you provide healthy snacking food---fresh fruits, fresh veggies, nuts. Get rid of their crackers, cookies, chips, cakes, soda, fruit juice, etc. --- these nutrient poor "foods" will only land them on a weight loss diet later in life. When you finish the 14 day induction, you can move onto the OWL phase where you will be able to eat fruits, veggies, nuts, etc.

                I only have one child who snacks all day, so I feel your pain. I still have all of her favorite snacks and foods here, and it's tough not to take a bite when I'm making something for her. I'm on day 12, and I haven't cheated yet. Keep looking at the goal.

                  So, it's tomorrow. How'd ya do??

                  Definitely keep some cheese or deviled eggs (hardboiled get boring) around. I like cream cheese celery, jicima. LOVE cucumber and red peppers dipped in and blue cheese dressing. I can also eat egg sald or chicken salad or tuna salad at all hours of the day.Make it in big batches so when the kids are running around, you don't have to stop and cook or chop or mix. Good luck!!!

                      I don't know about you, but I have ALWAYS eaten less (and eaten right!) in the morning, and it is the late afternoons and evenings where I have caved in and gone for the bad stuff.

                      So when I started this woe, I planned carefully. I always make sure that I have room (using fitday) for a yummy treat of some sort in the evening. I usually save my favorite foods for dinner, too.

                      This ensures that I do not cheat!
