0 carb cheese????

  • 0 carb cheese????

    Good morning!!!
    I just have a question...I read in the book that ALL cheeses have some carbohydrate...and Ive learned at the grocery that many do. However, while reading labels, some cheeses claim 0 carbs and 0 sugar. Is it ok to eat more of these on induction??? I LOVE cheese. One of the best parts of this diet...for me...is scrambled eggs with cheese...cheeseburgers....grilled steak with melted bleu cheese on top...but I dont want to stall because I beleive in a label.

    Hi Robyn, you can read more about this labeling dilemna in the stickie thread called "Net Carbs, Added Sugars, Labels" at the top of the forum. But to make a long story short(er). The US has no strict laws on carbohydrate labelling, so manufacturers can "round up" or "round down" the numbers.

    Count each ounce of cheese as 1 net carb. And remember you are limited to 3-4 ounces of cheese daily during Induction.

      Generally speaking according to labeling laws if an item has .49 grams of carb or less, they can round it down to 0. If it has .5-.99 grams, they can label it as <1g.

      Sneaky, isn't it?

      If it lists something as having 0 grams per serving, I've always counted it as having at least 1/2 a gram - but generally 1 gram just to be safe-, cuz odds are it's probably pretty close.
