  • I Need That Inner Strength

I feel like a failure. I think in the last four weeks I have restarted atkins about three times. I do great during the week. Wouldn't even think of cheating and then come the weekends and I totally loose that strength. But the odd thing is, its not even because I want the food--For example I go out with friends to a bar--I refrain from drinking and then I meet a guy who buys me a drink--what do I say "oh no, sorry can't have it, i'm on atkins"...or a guy invites me out on a date and we end up at a pizza joint--literally pizza only!! Please help me. I have lost 6 pounds since I have started. But I really really just want to lose it all and more importantly I want to rid my body of crap. Help me instill that inner strength!!!

My advice: When stuck with pizza just eat the toppings, better yet tell your date what type of restaraunt you prefer (somewhere you can eat). Also most pizza joints have salad or wings. It's very tough for some people to not drink in a bar, if you're one of those (no excuses) stay out of the bar for at least the 2 week induction period.

In a bar: I"ll just have club soda with lime, please. *inquisitive look from guy* "I have to get up early tomorrow"

Date: This one is harder - being picky makes you look 'difficult' on a first date. I always just request a restaurant where I can order a chicken caesar salad, myself. That way you know there is one thing you can eat there, and who knows, there might be other things too!

If I feel comfortable with the guy or it is a second/third date, then I'll tell them that I am trying to cut out processed foods, and trying the caveman diet. Only natural foods! This actually means "Atkins" but in a way that the average male can understand without thinking 'wow, she's high maintenance'.

After that, if I go out with them again I tell them flat out and if they can't respect that then I don't want to date them anyway. ;-P

Re: I Need That Inner Strength

The title of this thread is, "I need that inner strength". What you seem to forget is that you already have it inside you. You just have to recognise it.

You have to start makeing decisions thats going to help you along the way. When you chose to start Atkins, you didn't just make a decision affecting your eating, but your whole life.

you need to decide whats more important....eating pizza and drinking or losing weight? You know you are tempted at bars...then stay away. You know you can't eat a pizza places...so stop going.

            Simple.
