  • Someone please help me!!!

Hello everyone. I did atkins back in Dec and I lost 12 lbs during the induction. I quit cause I kept cheating with the holidays. I've finally gotten around to having the focus to want to lose again. I am on day 11 of induction, I have been doing so good...I haven't even thought of cheating...drinking lots of water....BUT!!! I got on the scale to see what the wonderful results are and.....I haven't lost a single pound!!! I'm so fustrated...I really don't want to quit...but I'm very discouraged. Has anyone else ever had this problem...or what is it that I could be doing wrong!!! Please someone give me some guidence....I really wanna do this!!! Thanks

    Re: Someone please help me!!!

    I feel your frustration 100% !!!

I started Atkins a month ago, did a complete 14 days induction without cheating only to jump on the scale and see no change. I had lost 1.5 lbs and I had been exercising like crazy. I proceeded to do Ext Ind (big mistake) since I only had 10 lbs to lose. Then I cheated - big time for 5 days. Yesterday was the first day I have been back on Induction.

I would say to you if you like Atkins foods and can live with it long-term then adopt it as a way of life and dont stress about the weight. Ofcourse many things will be important, such as calorie intake, water, exercise, supplements, etc etc. So if you like the foods, stick on Atkins. Move to OWL and progress as precribed. If you are fighting the cravings, to find yourself slipping easy, then Atkins may not the long term solution for you.

How determined are you to make this happen? From your post, I think you are serious about this, so I would advise you to stick with it and start upping the exercise.

Also, I have been stuck at my current weight for awhile now and I haven't moved either. It is frustrating but through other posts someone mentioned a sticky about how weight loss is not linear and that was helpful. So do a search and read that- it might help. But, the proof is in the pudding and too many people have achieved their goals on this lifestyle so keep up the GREAT work and you will see results eventually- just try to be patient with when!

I would suggest staying off the scale for a couple of weeks and only measure yourself. I know I personally don't care if the pounds come off as long as the inches come off and I can wear a smalller size.

Depending on how much weight you have to lose, it can depend on how fast it comes off. At www.atkins.com they have an article on metabolic resistance. If you are exercising a lot,you could be gaining lean muscle mass as well as reducing fat and they can counter react each other so you dont see the loss on the scale. Hope that helps a little.

Come on over to the Second Time Around forum!

The second time you do this, the weight may come off more slowly. (I only lost 8 lbs in the first four weeks). But by now, you should be feeling the OTHER benefits, like losing inches, tons of energy, and a feeling of general well-being. If you aren't, you should have someone review your menu.

I'm now into week 5, and I can say that despite the slowness of the scale, I'm looking better and feeling better. On the Second Time Around forum we have a two-week Tape Measure Challenge which has resulted, the first two weeks, in a massive loss of inches despite, in many cases, not much movement on the scale. We are also on a "Gallon Challenge" for water consumption. The support over there is fantastic!

As of 10/31/05, losta total of 56.75 inches!

                Re: Someone please help me!!!

I seem to have had the same problem before, that is why I would fall off the wagon. Until it hit, maybe I am messing my metabolism up by doing all this yo-yo dieting. I know my metabolism has to be out of whack. lol. Today is the first day of my induction-(again) we'll see how that goes.

Megan, could you maybe post a typical day's menu so that we may critique it? We'd love to help you get through this! (NOTHING is worse than your staunch efforts equaling no results - I've been there.)
