  • 70% Fat?

I read in the QUIZ the other day that we're supposed to be eating 70% fat. I *do* remember this in the Atkins book now that I think about it.

How in the WORLD am I going to eat 70% fat? I can't have that much butter and whole milk, cheese, etc are limited.

    Any ideas?

    Nope, it's 65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs.

Well, I thought the actual percentage to shoot for was 65%. But keep in mind, alot of things have fat..eggs, meats, cheese, oils, etc. Chances are, you get more fat than you think.. Have you calcualted your percentages into Fitday or something similar? If you do truly need more fat, you can try cooking with olive oil, it is supposed to be very good for you. I know for me, I found that my fats were okay once I actually sat down and counted them up.it's easy to forget the butter and oil that we cook with sometimes.

          Hello,

That percentage caught me off gaurd at the begining as well. It is % calories not weight of foot. You do not have to suck on salt pork on this diet. A also suggest setting up a fitday account. You will be suprised how easy it is with three good meals to find the right balance. You might also be suprised at the number of calories you are eating as I was. I was eating three good meals and found that I am in the 1550 range almost every day (but whose counting?).

OK. Now I understand ... its CALORIES not weight.

            Ha.

I put my food up until now into Fitday and I have 66% coming from fat. 2% comes from carbs... and 31% comes from protein.

I'll probably use Fitday now as it doesn't seem that hard..
