I've been known to have leg cramps but haven't had them in a long while, maybe 6 months and on second 3rd day of induction i woke up to a severe one in right leg. Does this woe make a person more suseptible to them?
    Please HELP!!!!

I had the same thing happen to me. Around the third day my legs were feeling weak and felt like I've been walking on them all day. I found a hot bath helped me with the problem.

actually it is our poor food choices while doing Atkins that make us more suspetible to leg cramps caused by electrolyte and mineral imbalances. Mnsy folk follow Dr Atkins advice and take calcium with magnesium and potassium OTC suplements or use a low salt for the potassium. The larger diuretic effect of the program combined with the Induction loss of fruit eating as a source for potaissim catches many folk short. you can check your food intake on the www.fitday.com free site in the reports section if you click the nutrition one.

Yeppers, ditto to what 2big said: get a potassium supplement and you'll quickly find relief. I found that it doesn't take that much to make a difference. You can also look up which veggies are high in potassium and eat them more frequently along with the supplement. I googled it one time (sorry, didn't keep the link!) and I found several good lists...just make sure the veggie is on the Acceptable Foods list before you go for a nosh.

Yup.. Pottassium. If you get cramps while walking you should double the amount.

I used to get pains after working all day when I only had pottasium for breakfast.

I thought that calcium deficiency causes those cramps. Or was calcium AND potassium ????

FitDay is a great help but if you want to skip those form filling actions, you can check lifestylescanner.com. I recently found it on my daily nutrition service searches. I didn't have the time to study it, but their new approach seemed interesting.

it's potassium. But drinking more water is also a great way to get rid of leg cramps. They're often caused by dehydration too...

yes.. pottasium and flax oil. I was on pottasium before but not flax oil. I think that helped out a lot.

I take 60mg 2x per day of pottasium. If your legs bother you more I'd take more pottasium.

I caught MY first leg cramp tonight and OOOOHHHHH my @@#$!@#$ is all I can say. I tried stretching and stretching so more with no relief. Finally, I went for my magnesium supplement (which I take once a day) and maybe it was just coincidence, but I took TWO w/ water and the cramps subsided. Coincidence???

It was 100% coincidence. There is no way your body could absorb those magnesium supplements that fast ...
What about arms muscle cramps ? Is this a sign of low potassium body stocks ???

                          Re: OUCHIE Leg Cramps

For me it was all about upping my water intake, as Knicknack said, dehydration causes the cramps as well.

Also, I found the quickest way to relieve the pain is to get up and walk around on it. Stretching always makes it worse for me.

This could be true if you are 100% sure that you have muscle cramps otherwise I wouldn't recommend walking on it.
Dehydration causes cramps only to our legs? What about arms cramps ?
