  • Why am I not hungry?

    Hi all -

I started Atkins in the spring and me it for 3 weeks without no problems (lost 10#). After too many outside opinoins, I quit, even though I knew it was working for me.

So here I am again. I started on July 18th and am cruising through induction with no problems. Feel great, no cravings ( including mental) and already down 8# in the first four days.

But this morning and most of the day, I have absolutey no appetite...none, zilch (boy is that a change). Just the thought of having to eat, makes me feel sick. I did eat like I should, but would have rather just drank water all day.

My question is, what causes the loss of appetite?? I am just so content with what I get to eat and can't understand what causes the change in "not thinking about and wanting food all the time". I know that I'm an emotional eater and this week I haven't turned to food for that reason, which is great but makes me curious, I guess.

Thanks for any input you want to give.

I am not too sure what causes it but some days i feel the same thing too. I do still eat every 6 hours but sometimes it is just a snack because i can't eat too much

It's 'cause you're in ketosis. Diminishes the appetite. Try to eat frequently - small snacks or meals - throughout the day. Do NOT let yourself go into starvation mode (below your bmr) with regard to calories.

There may come a time when you are suddenly ravenous for a day or two. This is also normal. Eat!
