I am 5'9 and 149 and still can't fit into a 10 comfortably. I don't worry about
size # much now days (at 47 yoa!) because I would have to be really
really skinny to slip into a 10 comfortably and I do not look or feel good
at that low weight. I look healthy and happy (and feel thin) at 145 and
no more. My goal in my old age is to stay under 150 lbs. I like that because
I think it is manageable for me.
Clothing size is something you'll have to figure out by trying on different clothes by different makers. Manufacturers these days do that "vanity sizing" nonsense so you have try on several sizes to find the one that fits you. I can fit into anything from a size 16 to a size 12 right now and occasionally into a size 10.
Your body type and the way your fat is distributed will affect your clothing size too. I haven't lost anything in my bust area so I'm still a C-cup---which makes finding clothes very difficult because if it fits around my bust, it's loose everywhere else. If it fits everywhere else, it won't fit around my bust.
I am 5'7" and I wear a size 10 or an undignified, tight size 8--hey if they button it counts. LOL. I am at 165--My weight has gone up slightly due to increased running.--Inches are coming off scale is going up. Screw the scale.
Breathing--who needs that? Just ask those skinny little "super" models, once they get to a party, they just stack them in a corner anyway, don't need much breath for that!!!LOLOLOLOL
You all are funny. I currently weigh 234 and can wear some size 16's, but I usually wear a size 18 ... shhh don't tell anyone! When I go to a new doctor or somewhere where I get weighed they are usually suprised at my weight. I guess I carry it well. I measured last week and had lost 13 inches in 3 weeks....
Im currently about 260lbs and I wear a size 16 stretchy and size 17 regular jean. About 2 years ago I was 180bs and wearing size 11. And im about 5'10. People always said that I hide it well, but I guess when its YOU putting on the size 17's....it doesnt feel that way!

I am too so amazed out how different manufactures can vary so much!! I tend to be in the size 12 range and am currently 164 lbs. (5'7") but then I see other women who appear to be shorter and stockier who wear the same size...might also depend were you carry the weight...I have a basic hourglass- slender waist -but my lower tummy, hips, and thighs tend to be slightly larger...creating that wonderful gap in the back of my pants...thank goodness they created the mid-rise jean! I don't care so much about the scale numbers as toning my belly, hips, and thighs!!
