  • Weight Loss Stalled - Day 11 - HELP

    I know I shouldn't but I hopped on the scales this morning to find that I have no net loss since Sunday which was day 8. I'm concerned that I'm doing something wrong.
    Here's yesterday's menu & exercise - which is pretty typical.

    Menu:

    Breakfast - 2 Bacon + 2 Eggs + 1 Small Tomato

    Lunch - Crayfish Tails in Mayo + Salad with some grated cheese & slices of pepperoni

    Dinner - Omlette ( 4 Eggs ) with cheese and sliced sausage. ( Carb 1% )

    Post Workout Snack - 3 Sides of Smoked Mackeral

    LOTS of water.

    Exercise:
    45mins Spinning - High intensity
    45mins Eliptical trainer
    30mins Pilates

    PLEEEEASSSE HELP - I am very disheartened by this.

    You shouldn't be. Stay off the scale. Just because you didn't lose in 3 days doesn't mean squat.

    If those are correct exercise stats, well, I wouldn't weigh for a while, because depending on your activity level before, you may not show a loss at all.

      Some people, during induction, lose a ton the first week and nothing the second. Some lose nothing the first week and a ton the second. Some spread it out over the two weeks. And there are a few who lose NOTHING in the first two weeks, then start dropping pounds after.

      You are not going to lose weight every day. You will definately reach a plateau after the first couple of weeks, as your body adjusts to the huge weight loss from the intitial period of ketosis.

      Don't worry about it. Measure yourself every 2 weeks, and you will see that whether you stay the same or lose pounds, you are always losing inches. An example: Over in the Second Time Around forum, one of our members lost 2 lbs in 2 weeks, but also lost EIGHTEEN INCHES!

          Sounds like a plan....unless when you weigh, it shows some complete odd number, then wait 3 days until weighing again.

          By following that, you will save yourself alot of heartache. Just reflect a second about how you felt before you weighed then how you feel after you see some crap on the scale?

            You have been given good advice already but I just wanted to suggest you read the sticky called 'weightloss is not linear which may reassure you about your situation

            Another suggestion - if you put your start/current/goal weight figures and your height and age in your signature block others can give you more useful feedback at times like this.

              I know what you mean! I am on day 12 and I my weight has stalled. I went from 220 to 209. And it has remained there since last friday! Grrr. It's okay though, I am still sticking to low carb and my clothes are still looser. Last time I lost 14lbs on induction so who knows mabey I'll lose 4lbs in the next 2 days.

                  snap! same thing havent lost since sunday but have been 100% i thought my scales where broke(booted them and everything but no budge)
                  we will just have to keep going imagine if we hadnt started we wouldnt have lost what we have
                  i say lets keep going we will get there soon
                  how bouts we dont weigh till monday and see whats what

                      I have also stalled. I dropped 6 pounds in the first 4 days, and have kept that off (even though I suspect it was just water weight)...but I haven't lost any more. I also don't seem to be losing inches. I went and bought ketosticks just to see if I was even in it, and I am, so no problems there. Just is very frustrating. I guess I'll just have to stay on induction (I'm on day 11 as well) longer until I am confident that something is coming off.

                        FYI I'm in the same place you are right now. I was at day 8 and lost 8 lbs. Pretty good. Then I stalled.. Now I'm up 2 pounds. Its important to read the posts on this board. They will REALLY put your heart at ease.

                        I couldn't have done atkins before.

                        Apparently this is perfectly normal.

                        I have lost an inch off my waist though.

                        Also make SURE to re-read all the directions continually to prevent mistakes. I've made about a dozen screwups but they were mostly small.

                          I promise ALL of you that the weight will come off. I just went back and looked at my charts for last year, when I did Atkins the first time. I would "pause" every 2 weeks for awhile, then drop a few pounds, then "pause". The pauses seemed to last forever, but when I look at the charts now, they weren't endless at all. Sometimes a week, at most.

                          Remember that your body needs to adjust after a drop in weight. Water fills up those fat cells and stays there until your body decides it's safe to release them. It's a life-preserving thing to protect against starvation, and it happens even if you aren't starving!

                          As I write, I'm at 207 lbs. Last year when I weighed this much, I was wearing a size 18. Today I'm wearing size 16 jeans and an XL shirt that I couldn't fit into two weeks ago by a long-shot. (in the last 2 weeks, I've lost 3 lbs) Check your size, instead of the scale!

                            Well I weighed in on Sunday and was still at 221lb ............BUT have dropped a further 5" so went from being disheartened by the weight to happy about the inches.

                            I did cheat Sunday night but am back on track and VERY motivated !!
