  • Can't Get Past Day 1, Why???

Hey everyone, I keep trying to start this and I get almost to the end of day 1 but I keep getting these major headaches and it makes me vomit. Im a "recovering" migrainer so everytime I feel one coming on I get scared and I probably just work myself up because of that but I cant make it past the first day! I eat the food fine with no problem but its these headaches! I know it's normal to get them when changing food habits but does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? Other than popping advil all day?

I'm thinking that it would be better to start on the weekend, that way I will be able to sleep it off.....does that sound like it would work?

Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

I don't get migraines, so I can't help on that front, but I did get terrible headaches for the first three days (they've now disappeared). I do think it might be a good idea to make sure you can rest and not do much, at least for a couple of days, if this diet is actually making you throw up, you poor thing. So yes, I'd start on Saturday. Hope that helps...

Induction Flu is normal for pretty much all of us and it can affect each person in different ways for different lengths of time. Generally we tell people to hang in there because once you've detoxed from the sugar and caffiene, your body returns to normal.
I would recommend you talk to your doctor, and tell him/her what you want to do and if there's something they an recommend to get you through the first week or so. Starting on a weekend is a good idea and Dr. Atkins does suggest we choose a span of time where we will have few distractions.

Another alternative is to gradually gradually wean yourself off of sugars and caffiene. You won't get the typical 2 week initial Induction "I lost xx pounds!!!", but you will have avoided a world of hurt and you will have put yourself on the road to weight loss, which is the most important thing, right?

My sister gets migranes and I've seen her worry when she gets a regular headache, so I can understand why you don't make it past one day.

I had a thumper of a headache for days, plus all over body lethargy...its not a fun time, but you just have to keep telling yourself that its temporary.

Thanks for the replys. I have been trying to start this for a while and I feel like it's not going to happen because I keep putting it off because of the headaches. So maybe this time I will start on the weekend, like I thought I should, and that way I can lay around and TURN THE PHONES OFF!!! and relax! I know I wont lose as much as normal because I will just be laying around all day but atleast I will get past the first couple days.

        Thanks again for your help!

Maybe start on Friday afternoon or evening so you will sleep through the first few hours too!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

The first few days are the hardest! Lots of rest, some pain reliever and TIME!

            You WILL make it!
