  • Flax seed meal questions....

I see on this board a lot of people using flax seed. So here are my questions:

Is this used to keep you regular?
Could it stall your weight loss?
Can you use it during induction?

    Thanks in advance!!!!!

induction rule 12 lists it as a source of fiber for constipation issues.
Check the recipe section for flax recipes. it is a great low carb high fiber food and has the most healthy Omega 3s of all foods.

2 tablespoons of flax is 3 carbs and its fiber is also 3 carbs. You deduct the fiber from the total carbs which leaves you with 0 so it doesn't count against your net carbs.

Like these ladies said, it's great. I use it regularly for making breakfast in the morning.

Not quite. The numbers are rounded up for the fiber. Flax does have a net carb, inspite of what the packaging says.

Plug the numbers in to a Hidden Carb Calculator and you'll see what I mean.

So when I plug in the numbers for 2 tbsp of flax meal, the hidden carb counter says we should be counting 1.875 grams per 2 Tbsp, right?

I found it at Walmart in the Supplement section. I also had trouble finding it till someone on this BB told me where to find it.

Trader Joes has it for the cheapest price. $1.99. Red Mill is the brand. I've also seen it at Albertsons and some smaller markets but it is $3.99. Look where the natural cereals are located.

My favorite is the golden flax from Wheat Montana. www.wheatmontana.com
It has a better texture and moistness when ground than the flax I've picked up at natural food stores.

Bob's Red Mill flaxmeal has a much different texture than grinding the seeds yourself. Not terrible; I just prefer the ground texture instead.

                      Re: Flax seed meal questions....

                      Hello!
I just bought Flax seeds (they were really hard to find), but I'm not sure how to use them. I would like to use them ground (very curious about all the recipies I found on the board ). I tasted them and it tasted raw (like raw green beans if that makes any sense).

So my question is, should i grind them just like that (and consider it Flax meal), or should it be roasted first?

                      Thanks in advance!

Just grind them as they are. No roasting needed.
