  • Salt!!!

well i have been staying away from putting salt on food during induction because i dont see anywhere that its ok to eat.

see i have hardboiled eggs every morning for breakfast and they taste sooo much better with salt sprinkled on them.

please tell me salt is ok and i can start using it

Salt is OK, but it will cause water retention. I suggest you use Morton Lite salt which tastes exactly like the regular, but with alot less sodium. Its also an excellent source of potassium.

I totaly agree with what betty says. Salt does retain ALOT of water and i noticed that it makes things worse when you start getting close to your period. I use it but about a week before i get my TOM i just stop using it all together until after TOM. I have learned that i only use it with the foods i know wont taste good to me with out salt example: eggs. Good luck. Hope to hear how you are doing.

A good non-salt suggestion is something like Mrs Dash...I'd much rather have that on say a hard boiled egg then fake salt, even the ones that mix the real and fake stuff. I still taste the chemicalness, which I just can't seem to get used to.

salt is okay to use a long as you are not exceding the recommended daily allowance as our bodies need sodium too just as much as the potassium in the light salt and remember it is very easy to OD on potassium if you get a heavy hand going with that lite salt too.

            Re: Salt!!!

Salt is a tricky thing... and a LOT of it depends on your activity level...

Betty is a runner... so I'm betting it doesn't bother her that much..

when I was running 30/35 miles a week, the Dr. told me to not go overboard.. but don't worry too much about the salt because as long as you're physically very active (outdoors in the south)... the salt is lost...

my blood pressure has never been higher than 100/70

right now it's 90/60.. and I eat way too much salt...

if I miss a day doing WORK (pushing the mower, some heavy gardening, or jogging).. then I sometimes see temporary water retention (especially after a bacon binge).. but it's temporary.. and it's SO cool to see the scale drop 3 pounds or so when it goes away...

SOOOO.... after all that.. my advice is put a little salt on the egg.. and some black pepper..
