Re: !!!!MUST HAVE SOMETHING SWEET..NOW!!!!! any "safe" suggestions?
Dr. Atkins said that OCCASIONAL treats were fine, and he also advised for people to avoid them during induction. Daily treats are not occasional - and eating food when you're not physically hungry is never advisable - especially when these are the things that got us in trouble in the first place.
Does that mean that it's not okay to have something sweet occasionally? Of course not. Does it mean that you should allow your cravings to rule what you eat and when? Absolutely not.
We are in charge of what we eat. What we eat should not be in charge of us.
Induction is a time to bring it back to the basics and stop perpetuating the cravings by feeding them. It's a time to learn to eat and rely on whole, natural foods and a time to change our tastes and perceptions. There's a reason why people who have avoided sweets during induction tell others to avoid them too - because they know what they're saying to be absolutely true. Abstinance during induction really will put you back in charge of the cravings, and once you get past the original 14 measley days - then you can make decisions about what to add and see how you react. You can't know how you'll react without these things in your daily life is you don't even try or make a committment to do it.
Losing weight and inches is easy. <shrug> People lose tons of weight and inches every day. There's no magic in it. The magic is in keeping it off and making sure the habits that got us there in the first place are firmly in check. - Just ask those of us that got to goal and wound up having to bring it back in check again.
