Tried to seach the forums for this, but couldn't find an answer. I'm currently in induction, and wondering if fast food is ok? As in, a hamburger/cheeseburger from McDonalds or soemthing, minus of course the ketchup and bun. Same with a breakfast sandwich, like sausage/bacon w/ cheese? Sometimes I'm in a hurry or whatever, just wondering if this is an option?

Re: Fast food question
Generally the bunless hamburger is okay but often the sauce has sugar in it, catsup does. The meat, lettuce, tomato, onion, and bacon are okay. The cheese is generally that processed plastic and not allowed. Side salads with ranch,or oil and vinegar are legal.
Just remember if unsure ask to see the ingredient list or go on line, often they have something. Burger king has a low carb burger wrapped in lettuce.
Subway has been advertizing an Atkins Friendly Wrap but even low carb tortillas aren't allow on induction. But any of their sandwiches can be made into a salad and most of those are Induction friendly. KFC has nothing low carb that I know about, so avoid them.
Most fast food has ingredients on line.

Re: Fast food question
Read fast food nation .. that'll cure ya from eating fast food. Most fast food places put tons of sodium and MSG in their foods .. not good for someone trying to lose. If YOU cook it, you control the ingredients.
My advice is to PLAN AHEAD ..

Re: Fast food question
I highly recommend setting aside an hour or two on the weekend (i like sunday) to make some easy to grab meals ahead of time. Poach a bunch of boneless chicken breasts for chicken salads, make some of pau's breakfast 'muffins' :

a crustless quiche that you can portion out and freeze? Cut up a bunch of veggies for dipping, boil a dozen eggs etc. the possiblities are endless! check out the recips forum (on the tool bar at the top of the board) and the food and cooking chat forum. You'll be amazed at the money you save preparing ahead avoiding fast food.
If you do still want to eat fast food (i've been stuck in the past..i usually stick with Subways salads), the internet is your best resource for nutritional info. all major chains have websites, here are 4 of them, you should really keep your eye on the ingredients list and make sure everything is legal:
Mcdonalds: http://www.mcdonalds.com/usa/eat/nutrition_info.html
Wendy's: http://www.wendys.com/food/index.jsp?country=US&lang=EN
Burger king: http://www.bk.com/food/nutrition/index.aspx
Subway: http://www.subway.com/subwayroot/Men...ion/index.aspx
Hope this helps.Jen, 39, F

Re: Fast food question
Watch out for the dressings. Check the nutritional info for anything you get. I have seen ranch with carb counts as high as 12-32 grams per packet. The high carb ranch dressings are usually loaded with cheap fillers and/or sugar.Side salads with ranch

Re: Fast food question
I can give you a warning... DONT EAT BREAKFAST AT MCDONALDS!!!! A sausage egg biscuit minus the biscuit is 7 carbs!!!!! I ate 2 once before I realized what I did!
And, I've tried quarter pounders without the bun and they are nasty.. yuck.. Mickey D's is officially off my menu for good!
If you want to do a fast food burger, go to Wendys! When Im working too far to go home for lunch I eat there. A triple cheeseburger w/cheese plain, a side Caesar salad and a big ol' glass of water is great! I finish it off the burger with 2 packs of chili sauce (cause I love them) and you have a grand total of 5.5 carbs.Male, 29 y/o Chicago, IL

Re: Fast food question
This sticky on the 14-day forum has many more links to food outlet's websites so you can check carb counts and nutrition before you choose to eat out!!
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=14319
this other sticky about reading nutrition labels is worth looking at too
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=5918Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
