Yes I made it through a whole week and I'm proud of it. It took me so long to get back on track. I promised myself that I wouldn't allow what happened before to happen again. I just got the approval from my boss to travel for the Labor Day weekend to Savannah GA. We will leave on Friday morning and return Tuesday evening. It is an 8 hour drive and I want to have legal foods handy in the car to snack on. Normally when we go on trips, it's the chips, sodas, and junk food that we pack. I don't want to travel with the mindset that I will get back on track will I return. Been there, done that and tired of it! Please don't say pork rinds, as I'm tired of them and I need more variety. I did have a nice dilled pickle over the weekend, and it was yummy. Your support is truly appreciated.

Re: 1 WeeK MaRk!
Congrats on the 1 week! It's seems you have the right frame of mind going in to this trip. Good for you! Stay strong. I guess the only answer would be to pack a cooler full of good stuff like...chicken salad, olives, cheese cubes and celery sticks!

Re: 1 WeeK MaRk!
Cheese crackers for nibbles and flax crackers to spread cream cheese on or use with dips.
Have you got a cooler you can take? Those plugin car ones are good.
If not then fill some bottles of water to a bit below the top and freeze them beforehand. With them in amongst your food it will keep cool and as the ice melts you will have chilled water to drink too!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Just a heads up if you are trying to do a clean induction...no nuts allowed. How about Slimjims?Elsie150

Induction is over August 29th for me, we leave on September 2nd. SO the nuts should be fine. Thanks again!Originally posted by Elsie150Just a heads up if you are trying to do a clean induction...no nuts allowed. How about Slimjims?Start Date: 3/11/2010

Re: 1 WeeK MaRk!
Well that is good news then. Though I am confused because I thought we didn't introduce nuts until our 3rd or 4th rung?? Okay...am off to reread DANDR again...I think I am getting everything mixed up.
Have a great trip. You will do great as you have a plan!Elsie150

If you have cooler, hard boiled eggs, a small jar of mayo, cold grilled chicken, sliced roast beef, lettuce and other veggies will all travel nicely. Just remember to bring paper plates and forks and knives with you.~Megs~

Re: 1 WeeK MaRk!
Elsie - yes, it's a bit confusing. Dr.Atkins said no nuts for the first 2 weeks. Then he had an OWL rung for nuts and seeds.
Many people avoid nuts entirely until the nuts and seeds rung. Others will incorporate small amounts of nuts into their menu after the second week. What they watch for is any unusual side effects, like stalling or new cravings.Started Atkins 2d time 6/20/05

Re: 1 WeeK MaRk!
You're correct. But there are a subset of people who choose to extend their Induction beyond the 14 days because they believe they will lose weight faster by keeping their carbs at an artificially low level---eventhough Dr. Atkins wrote that the people who would benefit the most from extending their Induction phase are those who have a high degree of metabolic resistance to weight loss and need the extra time on Induction to help correct those metabolic imbalances. Anyhow...for those people with a high degree of metabolic resistance and need to stay on Induction longer than 14 days, it's okay for them to add 1 ounce of nuts to their diets. But if you read the OWL forum, nuts are the downfall of many because they either can't control the portion size or the nuts cause a weight loss stall/slowdown---which is why Dr. Atkins reserved it for OWL because by that time you have learned how your body reacts to foods and you have learned how to recognize the subtle signs.Originally posted by Elsie150Well that is good news then.
