  • Howdy!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to say hi and let you all know how much it has helped me to get through this first week by reading your tips and inspirational stories. My name is Joann and I am the stay at home mother of two girls.

I have always had weight problems. I remember having to get on the scales in front of everyone in my class when I was fourteen and weighing 170 lbs. How embarassing! I have been on plenty of diets but never lasted very long. I was always hungry. I could never get my fill of carbohydrates. I would eat one plate of spagetti or mac'n cheese and would always have to go back for seconds or thirds. I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and diabetes back to back this past november. I tried the "diabetic diet" that they put me on. It didn't last for long.

I came across Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution at a discount store. I think I paid .50 cents for it. I read the book through cover to cover, and what he had to say made perfect sense to me. So I decided to try it for myself and my girls. Oh to be able to play with them and not run out of energy as soon as I walked out the door.

Well I made it through my first week of induction and boy was the withdrawls awful. Every day it is getting better though. I wanted you to share in my excitment in losing 12 lbs. I know that it will not always be easy but I have this wonderful group to stand by me, and I can read and re-read your wonderful inspirational stories to encourage me.

    Thanks for reading!

    Re: Howdy!

OMG! 12 lbs in your first week? WOO HOOO! You must be absolutely floating on air.

Glad you are getting through the withdrawal phase - from now on, it will be smooth sailing and you should be getting a terrific burst of energy and a general sense of well-being anytime now.

The next week you may not lose as much, but don't worry. When we drop a whopping amount, our body needs to adjust a bit, and then gets right back into losing mode!

I hope you are taking your measurements every 2 weeks, because no matter WHAT the scale says, the inches will be melting off!!!!!

    You're doing GREAT!

          Re: Howdy!

Thanks everyone for your support! It means alot to me. Also thank you finelly for reminding me to take down my measurements. I had forgotten to do that but as soon as I read your post I did exactly that. I was so excited because I was able to ride my exercise bike for 20 min tonight. Before I didn't really exercise because I was too tired all of the time, but I hope that the more I exercise the more my body will enjoy it.

Well, you've certainly proven your mettle! Way to go on the excellet weight loss so far! You're already less of a woman than you were!

And to think, all you lost was $.50 in addition to weight...
