  • Day One: Feeling JUNKY!

Well, I'm sitting here on day one feeling AWFUL!

I know this will get better, and I truly have no desire to cheat, but wowsers! I feel like I've been hit by a truck!

Is it possible to feel this bad THIS fast?

I've had my breakfast of 3 eggs, 1/2 oz cheddar, 3 sausage links (oh my gosh, after 10 months of WW, that was a DREAM).... and my lunch was romaine lettuce wraps with turkey and 2 oz of swiss and bacon strips.

And my body is SCREAMING for sugar!!! This is the time of day I always had my "1 point" fudge pops or something... pure junkola.

I'm trying to study (I'm in school full-time), but I might just go take a nap!

    Wow.

    Re: Day One: Feeling JUNKY!

Alas, it IS possible to feel this crappy. Some suggestions:

    1. Eat something high in fat immediately.

    2. Eat something high in fat and protein every 2 hours for the next 48 hours (except when you are sleeping)

    3. Up your water intake.

    4. Take 4 ibuprofin every 4 hours.

    5. If you are sleepy, sleep.

Your body is detoxing and this is like withdrawal from any drug. It will protest and complain and make you feel awful. Don't indulge the temptation to eat carbs. DO indulge the temptation to rest and not exert yourself for awhile. Do NOT let yourself get hungry. Do NOT bunch up your veggie carbs in one meal, but spread it out over the day.

Hang in there! This may last another day or two, but you WILL feel fantastic when you get through it!

      Thanks for the immediate feedback.

I have a broccoli/cream/cheddar thingy I was going to have with dinner, I will go ahead and make that now.

I'm seriously contemplating the vicodin I have some leftover from my wisdom tooth extraction a month ago

Obviously, if you take the vicodin, make sure someone is watching your girls, lol. And try a half of one at first.

I'm sending positive thoughts your way..........

If you're hit by induction flu your first day then you are a high-metabolism kinda gal! You've already burned carb stores and are converting into a glycogen-burnin' machine!

I'd prefer it if you didn't post christian scripture. But I don't know if it is actually frowned upon by the mods.

Hang on Kimberly...it will pass...isn't it amazing that just be eating Atkins one day the poison in your body is reacting?? Amazing what we have been putting in our bodies and not even knowing how dependent we become on it. My 'flu' lasted 4 days. But I made it past with no cheats and you can too!!

                  Re: Day One: Feeling JUNKY!

As an aside, brief religious scripture/commentary in a signature line ought not be a problem, so long as it doesn't infringe on any TOS violations at the site (and it doesn't appear to).

If the quote read, "God loves me but he thinks your feet smell like pot roasts" then that might raise a few eyebrows.

WIth apologies.... Felt it would be okay to respond to someone who indicated a faith based motivator with like faith based motivators. I deleted the post, as I did not intend to disturb or offend. My faith is such a huge part of who I am, I tend to be open with it, as many others are with opinions/lifestyles/beliefs or worldviews they ascribe to. Will not repeat. Thank you for understanding.

                        Re: Day One: Feeling JUNKY!

Well, I just wanted to pop this in here:

                        From the TOS:
"4) Some posts may be deemed overly controversial for this board. We may choose not to allow certain posts that may cause flame wars or split the board. Topics such as race, religion and politics may be censored if it is not tightly coupled with the atkins diet or are potentially offensive. For instance the topic of 'abortion and the atkins diet' may not be allowed on this board. Not because the board is pro or anti abortion but because of the political/religious/emotional debate potential."

Since she was just sharing scripture with me about dieting, I felt it was more than appropriate.

I suppose next time we can PM it, but I didn't think it was in any way a violation.

Thanks, regardless! And thanks for handling it with grace and dignity
